Many a time it has been found that we do not follow certain basics in life.  Once such aspect is basic manners at our homes, the area in which we live in  and at our workplaces.  There are some basic manners which are to be followed.

Manners to be followed at our workplace.

Interference of third person in a conversation between two people:- There are 2 people i.e.  A and B having a conversation with each other.  If C sees that A and B are having a conversation with each other then he has to wait till such time the conversation between them is over.  Often it is seen that C interrupts the conversation and has a chat with A.  It therefore becomes A's duty to ask C to wait till such time conversation is over but often it is seen that A encourages C to continue the conversation and ignores B altogether. Interrupting a two party conversation is very bad and encouraging that is even worse but this is something which regularly happens in workplaces.

Respecting  Secrecy:- It is often seen that two people are having a secret discussion avoiding others, but some people either have a habit of hovering around the two or joining the two in the conversation even if the third person is unwanted by the two who are already conversing.  Even if the persons involved in secret conversation convey their displeasure by stopping the conversation temporarily, there still is a tendency on part of the third person to stand or hover over there.  That really is bad manners on the part of third person.

Peeping into a persons Computer:- There are people who have a habit of peeping into a persons PC while he is typing something.  Some people show their displeasure by minimizing the screen.  That is an indicator for the person peeping to understand that the person typing is not comfortable.  In some cases when a person is typing something personal, another person has a tendency to stand in front of the machine without having any work whatsoever with that person.  Usually the person typing stops typing to show his indirect displeasure.  Yet the person standing refuses to move.  Some people cannot show their displeasure openly and therefore it becomes our duty to understand their feelings and respect their feelings.

Shouting at Subordinates:- Some bosses have a habit of shouting at subordinates in front of everybody.  If the boss has a problem with subordinate he should call the subordinate in his cabinet and advise him.  If he is still angry he can show his displeasure at the subordinate by calling to his cabin pointing out the mistakes committed and firing him inside his cabin.  Shouting at the subordinate in front of everybody puts the boss in poorer light than the subordinate even if the subordinate is at fault.

Manners to be followed at our houses and in our localities.

Expressing our happiness on something we have but the other person is suffering for lack of it:- Repeatedly talking about the happiness our spouse gives to a person who is past marriageable age and struggling to find a life partner is very bad manners.  Similarly always talking about the joy of having children repeatedly to a childless couple is very bad manners especially when you know that it is going to hurt that couple who undergo the pain day in day out on not having children.  Talking repeatedly about the importance of of parents and the happy moments they share with their parents in front of  orphans or someone who has lost his or her  parents very early in life  is very hurtful to them

Boasting about ourselves on something we have and other person does not have:- Talking about our wealth and innumerable properties we have to somebody who is struggling to make both ends meet is very bad.  It is very bad if the person talks repeatedly in front of the struggling person especially when the struggling person has nobody to help to and the rich person is not keen on helping anybody.  This is one of the most common things in todays world.

Scolding wives:- Some husbands take great pride in scolding their wives in front of their grown up children.  Certainly the children especially grown up ones do not like their mother to scolded in front of them.  Some husbands go a step further and insult their wives in front of neighbours or in front of colleagues in functions.  This not only is humiliating and hurtful for wife but the husband does not realize that he is making a fool of himself. Even if the wife is at fault, nobody will have a decent opinion of husband shouting and insulting his wife in front of others.

The above mentioned points are the  bare minimum  among basic manners to be followed in our day to day activities.

Satish
