Moonwalk or “backslide” is a popular dance technique that gives the illusion that the person is moving forward, while he is actually doing a backward motion. The correct technique of performing a moonwalk is detailed below:

Prerequisites:
*A Smooth, sliding floor.
*Socks and shoes (optional).

Procedure:
Step 1: Stand with the feet together. Raise one of the heels (say, the right heel), and let it stand on its toes.
Step 2: Then push/slide the opposite foot (the left foot, in this case) backward.
Step 3: Swap heels. Lower the right heel to the ground and raise the left heel.
Step 4: Push/Slide the right foot back (behind the left foot).
Step 5: Swap heels and repeat.

A variation of the moonwalk is the Air Walk. The following steps take you through the procedure.

Prerequisites:
*A Smooth, sliding floor.
*Socks and shoes (optional).

Step 1: Place the foot (say, left foot) out in front of you. The foot should be flat, just hovering above the ground, so that there is a thin cushion of air between the foot and the ground.
Step 2: Slide the foot back, suspending just above the ground. Simultaneously, let the alternate foot (right foot, in this case) come up on its toes.
Step 3: Put the left foot on the ground, right foot out in front, just above the ground level, and repeat.

The moonwalk and the air walk techniques, as described above, are easy-to-learn and have gained immense recognition as famous dance forms.
