Frost

This poem "Two Tramps in a Mud Time" is a similar poem. It describes the thought processes of the poet on an april day in New England. In April morning was warm, sunny and pleasant. The chilly winter days were over and the spring season was showing the symptoms of the forthcoming summer, which is the happiest season for the Americans. So the poet also was happy and energtic. He was free on that day. So he started to split the logs of wood with an oxe in his courtyard. He enjoyed the work and interestingly he was litting the wood with accuracy. At that time two tramps were passing by one went away and the other tramps stopped. He looked at the poet and told him to hit hard. The poet understood that the tramp was expecting the poet to give him the work and pay him because he was poor and in need of some work.

However, the poet did not give the work to the tramp ofcourse he was aware that the tramp was poor and needed the work. The poet was splitting the wood not for money but for fun and as a hobby. The tramp was a homeless labourer and he was trained in manual works like wood-cutting. When compared with the poet he was a better wood-cutter and above all he was in need of some work. But the poet did not like to give the work to the tramp.

The spring season was so pleasant that he wanted to continue the work in order to enjoy the seasons sunshine and warmth. So he did not like to give the work to the tramp though wood-cutting was a vocation to the tramp and vocation to the poet. The poet justifies his decision by saying that the two tramp were not together. One had left the place and if he gave the work to the other tramp it would be separating them. As aport he wanted to unite people.

Hence, the poem concludes with the poet continuing wood-splitting with out giving the work to the tramp. Ofcourse the poet justifies his decision but we feel that he should have been sympathetic "Two the Tramps". The poem talks more about the nusiance of the spring season then they poor tramps. The spring season as played the roll a villain and spolied the poet's quality of sympathy for the poor. Though there is flaw in the poem it describes the fine characteristic of the spring season and its strong infact on the poet. It is definitely influencing the moods of people.
