In a village there lived two friends. One person's name was Rajkumar. He was a doctor by profession. The ther person's name was Tarun. He was an engineer by profession. Both were very close. They shared everything The engineer had three sons. All the three sons cherished a secret desire of marrying Shobi, the beautiful daughter of the doctor. She was very very beautiful. Everyone who saw her was enchanted by her beauty. There was no young man who would not cherish the desire of marrying her.

Tarun's mother resided with him. She was too old and had a wrinkled face. She was ugly to look at. Tarun's first son's name was Nagaraj, the second son's  Premraj and the third son's Anandaraj. Tarun and Nagaraj both hated their grandmother. They both never heeded to her words. Both hated her appearance. But Anandaraj was quite different. Anandaraj loved his grandmother. He used to get her blessings whenever he went anywhere.

One day, Nagaraj the eldest son of the Engineer said that he was going to propose to Shob. He dressed up smartly and proceeded towards the doctor's  house. He was sure that Shobi would marry him. On his way he met his Grandmother. She asked him where he was going. Nagaraj did not speak to her. He pretended that he had not seen her at all. When he reached the doctor's house and proposed Shobi, she refused to marry him. He was quite disappointed.

After a few months, Premraj, the middle son thought of proposing to Shobi. He also dressed up and went towards the miller's house. He too, met his Grandmother. She wished him good day and asked him where he was going. But he did not answer her and went on his way. Shobi refused his proposal also. Greatly disappointed, he came back.

A few days later Anandraj, the youngest son of the Engineer decided to propose to Shobi. He was a very, very good natured boy. He was not handsome like the other two. On his face was one scar. This was ugly to see. He too met his Grandmother when going. He wished her Good day. She asked him where he was going. He told her that he was going to propose to Shobi. He said, "I am hopeless. She won't marry me. She has already refused to marry my elder brothers who are better looking."  Grandma said, "Don't be disheartened. Shobi won't refuse to marry you". She gave him a gold ring which was heavy weighted.

When Anandaraj reached Shobi's house she was not at home. But her mother, suddenly got chest pain. He gave her a first aid medicine. Then he admitted her in the hospital. When he admitted her in the hospital, there was no one in her home. After treatment, they returned.

Just then Shobi and her father came in. They were shocked to see Shobi's mother. They both thanked Anandaraj for his help. Anandaraj and Shobi's friendship was developed by this incident. Friendship turned into love. When Anandaraj proposed to Shobi, she readily accepted the proposal. She told Anandaraj that she had always loved and admired him. Shobi's father had accepted their love because he had a soft corner with him because of the incident.

Shobi's father arranged their marriage. The wedding was held with great pomp. Anandaraj and Shobi lived happily with each other. They had the blessings of his Grandmother with them.

Moral of the Story:

Give respect and love for the old people always. Their blessings will follow you forever.
