Was she unfaithful?
Invitation to attend friend's marriage
Satish received a letter from his best friend Ramesh. He had no contact with him for last ten years. Ramesh had got job in a multinational in Kolkatta. Satish opened the letter with a sense of curiosity. This was an invitation to attend wedding ceremony of Ramesh at Kolkatta. Generally, Satish would have just sent a message of congratulation. But Ramesh was his dearest and closest friend.
Satish reached Kolkatta on the date fixed for wedding ceremony. He reached the wedding venue at scheduled time. There were many guests there. Satish was warmly greeted by Ramesh's parents and family. All were in a very joyous mood. The wedding hall was well lighted and decorated with balloons. All arrangements for ceremony were complete.
Bride absconds
All of a sudden, there was tense in the hall. Somebody informed that the bride had absconded and was nowhere to be seen. She had left a note that she would not marry Ramesh.
This changed the entire mood in the gathering. Ramesh and his parents/ sisters all were in very pensive mood. Ramesh was all in tears. I also felt a lot of mental agony. Why that girl refused in the last moment! If she loved somebody else, she could refuse to marry Ramesh in the very beginning instead of this last moment dramatic step.
Satish consoled Ramesh saying that this was God's will and who knows that this may be blessing in disguise. Would it not be still worse if the wicked girl absconded after wedding ceremony!
Satish returned to Agra. Many months passed. He almost forgot about the unhappy event at Kolkatta.
Satish visits Kolkatta on a business trip
Satish had an occasion to visit Kolkatta on a business trip. He had to seek a big order for his company products from a Kolkatta based company. He also used the occasion to visit residence of Ramesh.
He came to know that Ramesh was married to another girl with whom he went to Shimla on a honeymoon trip. But alas! As ill luck would have it, his newly wedded wife absonded with ornaments and cash while on return visit leaving Ramesh alone sleeping in the railway first class A.C. coupe. Ramesh said a few soothing words to Ramesh's parents and returned to Agra.
Satish meets Renu, his class mate
One day Ramesh happened to see Renu, his old class mate. Renu invited him to her residence that was nearby. During course of talk, Satish talked about the ill fate of his friend Ramesh.
Renu burst- Let him never be married. He is not a man but a devil.
Satish- How you say?
Renu- Do you know who refused him to marry at last moment. This is I. I reached Kolkata two days before the scheduled date for wedding. One friend of mine was working in the same company in which Ramesh was working. Ramesh went to gulf countries often for business trips. He had contacts with traffickers in women. They would send women to those countries for flesh trade or as concubines of wealthy sheikhs. My friend warned me that I was being entrapped by gang that indulged in trafficking in women. Wedding was a cruel joke and hoax.
Satish: okay. I believe. But what about the girls who absconded while on return.
Renu: I do not like that any girl be trapped for human trafficking. When i came to know about his marriage to another girl, I contacted that girl and told him about Ramesh. She did not believe me and so married him. At shimla, she overheard Ramesh saying to some body that she would be kidnapped during return journey and handed over to the human trafickeers. It was not too late. So, she absconded from the train before she could be kidnapped.
Soon they departed. One day, Satish read in newspaper:
The mystery of missing young women solved. A gang of human traffickers exposed. The gang employed trick to kidnap the newly wed young girls and send them for flesh trade and harems in Gulf. The gang mastermind Ramesh has been arrested.
Satish realized that none of the girls were unfaithful. - one who refused to marry at last moment, and the second who absconded while returning from honeymoon trip
Unfaithful to the entire humanity is Ramesh- a blot on entire humanity.
