Let us take a look at the amazing world of animals and see how useful they are to human beings.

Milk food

These animals give us milk, which is very essential for our growth. Butter, cheese, curd and ice-cream all come from milk.

Chicken and eggs

Hens and ducks give us meat and eggs.

Some animals make our task easy by charring load. Horses, camels, buffaloes, donkeys etc., are used for pulling carts. Bullocks help to plough fields. Elephants pull heavy logs of wood.

Do you know where the wool which is used to make warm clothes comes from? Sheep gives us wool. Sweaters and blankets made, weaves from wool.

Silk used to make clothes like saris and (pattuvastralu) shirts cloth comes from silkworm.

Dogs are kept at home as pets. They guard our house, For Safety from thief. Police dogs help policemen to catch thieves.

Cats scare mice away from our homes. Cat kills rat. Thus you see hoe animals are useful and important to us!

We should be kind to them. Do you know that animals also feel the way we do? They cannot speak but they do feel happy, scared and angry just like you. They also get hurt. Never throw stones at them or be unkind to them.

Animals can be your friend too. Whenever you stroke your pet or feed them, see how they respond. A dog wags its tail, and licks you as if saying `Thank you’. They never forget your love and even if you see the dog after many says or months, it will rush up to you and wag its tail.

Kind Siddhartha

Little Siddhartha was a prince. Once when he was playing in the garden, a bird fell near his feet. It was wounded and bleeding. Siddhartha carefully picked up the wounded bird. Just then the hunter who had shot the bird came running. He said, `This bird belongs to me as I shot it down with my arrow. Give me it back’’.

Siddhartha, `You almost killed the bird. But I saved its life. Now tell me to whom should it belong?’’

The hunter felt ashamed and went away. Siddhartha too the bird inside, he looked after it with great love and care.

When the bird healed, Siddhartha let him fly. This kind little prince grew up to become Lord Buddha.

Never kill or harm animals. Wild animals should not be hunted for and sport. We need to preserve our wild life/ this is called `conservation of wild life’.
