A story of Sandra and in injured dog

Sandra and Snoopy

For the first time I met Sandra in a vet clinic, where she had come with a dog having a badly crushed foreleg. It was so badly spoiled that there seemed no other option than to amputate it. Sandra was looking very concerned, she had her eyes filled with tears, but was having a lot of hope that surgeon might bring out something positive. Surgeon came with his gloved hands and examined it very thoroughly, nodded his head and then apprised the girl on the situation.
Tears were rolling down her eyes; it was like a shock to her to see that animal be without one limb. She was not able to hide her emotions. Doctors too were not happy to do so but nothing else could be done. Another problem she had was the shortage of money. She didn’t have enough money to bear the expenses of surgery and post-operative follow-up, so she asked the doctor to do the first aid. Surgeon prescribed a course of antibiotics to check infection in the wound, pain-killers to relieve stress of pain and daily antiseptic dressing.
People around her advised to put the animal into deep sleep but she could not make herself convinced for that, she wanted to see Snoopy happy and live. Sandra was a snow board instructor and was feeling very tired and exhausted so she needed a refreshing break from work. That is why she had been here for a holiday with her boyfriend who belonged to this place. Lost in the beauty of this beautiful place, she came across this crying animal along the roadside. She named him snoopy. She decided to be back on work leaving up her holiday to earn money for this suffering stray animal.
She was working for whole of the day but during these two months of work she couldn’t manage to forget the pain of that distressed animal even for a while. There was something, some feeling that was pulling her back to see Snoopy whom she had kept in the care of her boyfriend. She had promised Snoopy that she will come back soon with enough money to bear the vet expenses.
The day she was returning back to Snoopy’s place she telephoned her mom and told about Snoopy. Her mom came to the airport to see off her, she also gave her 1000$ for Snoopy’s help. Now Sandra was more than happy, she closed her eyes with both hands and shouted, I am coming, Snoopy. Everyone around her stared at this activity and an airport staffer came asking, is there anything wrong with you, madam? She was sobbing and felt sorry for disturbing everyone.

While she was on the heights on airplane, she wished she had her own wings then she would fly herself with more speed and reach before the airplane avoiding the hassle of airport formalities and save the time that a car will take to leave her at her boyfriend’s home.

Her boy friend, Mannu had cooked trout that was Sandra’s favourite and was desperately waiting for her arrival. She reached there at 11:00 p.m., and was happy to see Snoopy sitting quietly in the corner of room. It was having no pain by now but the wound was as such. Both of them had dinner together but for Sandra the night seemed to be very long, she was desperate to take Snoopy to the vet clinic.

Next morning she hired a comfortable car and Snoopy was soon in the vet hospital. Snoopy had to go a 3 hours long surgery, during that period Sandra kept praying to almighty to keep him safe and recover uneventfully from anaesthesia. In the evening she was back to Mannu’s place with Snoopy. Both of them cared a lot for Snoopy. They did daily antiseptic dressings and daily injections at a near by local vet clinic. Within three weeks Snoopy’s wound had healed and was walking again on three of his intact legs. Now it used to eat well and had adapted to walk with three limbs.

Mannu had decided to keep Snoopy as his own pet and now Sandra could fly back worry-free to her home place with a hope to be back here for a vacation soon with Mannu and Snoopy.
