Sri Hanuman is honest servant of Lord Ram.

In child hood

Once upon a time, there lived a monkey-boy called Hanuman. His father was Vayu, the go of the winds. Although he was only little Hanuman had magic powers. He was also very naughty.

One day, hanuman looked up at the sun. ` I like the sun. How beautiful it is. I want to hold it and play with it.’

H reached up, caught hold of the sun and started throwing it up and down as though it were a ball. The sun began to feel rather ill.

He called out to Indhra, the god of thunder and lightning.

Indhra was very cross. `Put the sun back at once,’ h said.

`No,’ said hanuman, who was not afraid.

Indhra was very angry and he shot bolt of lightning.

`Dhap!’

It hit hanuman and he fell to the ground from the up.

His father Vayu, the god of the winds, was furious and blew great winds and storms around the world. Then, all of a sudden, the air become still.

`I will stop the air flowing until my son breathes again!; said Vayu, there was no air to breathe, plants, animals and people began to feel weak, fall over and die. Indhra saw what was happening. He felt very sad.

`None of this would have happened if I had not got so angry. I must as Vayu to forgive me.’

So the gods promised to bring hanuman back to life. They promised him many magic powers. He could grow as big or as small as he wished. His tail was magic and be could fly high in the sky. He would lead an army of monkeys and live as long as he liked! `Lightning and thunder bolts will never harm him again’, said Indhra.

`Fire will never touch him,’ said the sun. Hanuman’s father was happy and kept his word. The air moved again and all the plants animals and people came back to life.
