The mango mantra
Bheema, a poor villager, used to go to a nearby forest. He would stand under a mango tree and say a mantra. The tree would immediately become heavy with fruit. The next moment the mangoes would ripen and ten Fall to the ground. Bheema collected them, are and distributed the rest among his neighbors.
One day a young man came to the village. He begged Bheema to teach him the mantra. Bheema reluctantly agreed but warned him, ``you must never use the mantra to satisfy your greed. Also, the mantra will only work as long as you do not tell a lie.’’
The young man repeated the mantra several times daily and got large quantities of delicious mangoes.
He sold these in the market. In a few months he became rich. The king heard of the miracle. He called the young man and asked, `how do you manage to get mangoes in and out of season?’
`With the help of a mantra, the young man said. He took the king to a mango tree in the royal park. He recited the mantra and ripe, golden mangoes appeared and fell to the ground.
The young man did not want to say that his teacher was a poor, village –born man like Bheema. So, he lied, `I learnt the mantra from a great teacher.’
The next time the king wanted to eat some mangoes, the young man spoke the words of the mantra. But nothing happened. The power of the mantra had gone!
He went back to Bheema. `Give me the mantra again,’ he begged.
`No’, said Bheema. The charm was given to you once. You told a lie and lost it.
Don’t say lie in any time. That is very bad to you.
