Jaspal Bhatti : A Comedian Stood Alone
God is getting really cruel these days or i would say too much frustrated. Could be the destiny of the person dying or God need some relaxing time there in heaven. First he called the technology guy Steve jobs, then musicians Jagjit Singh and Bhupin Hazarika and then actor Rajesh Khanna and when he needed a director he called upon Sir Yash Chopra and now since the script of Yash ji demanded a Comedian , he called upon Sir Jaspal bhatti ji.
The name Jaspal Bhatti might not be in the lime light but those woh have witnessed his creation Flop Show, understand him well. Altough it was hardly 11 episodes series, it slapped the politicans and corrupted system in such a satarical way that makes enjoy the laughter and pity of our system at the same time.
Jaspal Bhatti was born in the City of Golden Temple Amritsar and comedy was in his blood. His nationwide hit Flop show and ulta pulta were indeed one of his best creations but my purpose of writing the article is not this one. I just want to talk about him. Why he was loved by all because he was the one who stood for the common man and have always created a material which displays the problems in our system and how the people are getting effected by them daily. It's also been said that he has never been louder on stage because his works speaks and his calm personality is what made him the best
He and his team have always played and upfront role in creating Nukkad Nataks( Street play) so that it can take the problem of people to street and people should know what's happening around. And the best part is he has always been supported by his family and his wife stood by him all the time and was even the part of his crew.
I once went to his school, Mad Arts in Mohali and felt like being a part of his group but i think my bread and butter for life came in front of my passions. He's never been into any kind of controversy and was the beloved comedian of whole Punjab. His first full length feature film Mahul theek hai (Envirnment is right, a Satire on Police Department) was another big hit in Punjab. The way he has potrayed the system was indeed comendable. He was one of those guys whose comedy never had the double meaning and always been a complete family entertainment pack.
He died in a Car Accident on 25th Oct-2012, and created a sadness in whole film industry. He was coming back from the promotion of his new movie Power Cut which was supposed to be released 2 days after, just like Heath Ledger dies before Dark Night.
I don't know what God is planning but from last year he has started taking back some of the best gifts this world was having and i am really afraid what are his plans further. The younger generation is nothing without Technology, Sex and Drugs and the love and dedication towards the country is getting lost. They have started taking forgranted that our system will be like that and it can never be improved , so why should we stop our enjoyment. But jaspal Bhatti was out of the leauge. He could have created much more stuff which we look for these days but he stuck to his work and kept creating the work which was better for the society and for the coming Generation.
God Bless his soul and hope his good work is continued by his team as usual.
