Love is the music of life. What can be won by hatred? Nothing.  A lion can be tamed with love, but not even a bud can bloom by force.

Jesus Christ came to earth with empty hands. But his heart was like a lake of love.

Gandhiji was born in India. But he loved the world. Not only in India, had his freedom struggle started in South Africa.

Learn to love. Learn to win through love. Hatred only increases hatred. Love can conquer hatred. All the saints of the world preached only this lesson of love. That is why people pay homage to them; they come in thousands to bow their heads before the graves and edifices of saints.

Man has a very mean-minded habit of dividing himself into two categories – high and low. He is a lowly person because he lives in a hut at slum. I am a high born person because I live in a palace. He is an untouchable because he cleans drainage. I am pure because I do not clean my own house. Isn’t this a terrible attitude?

In fact, to think that somebody is lower than you or that you are better than someone else, is itself such a demeaning thing. It only shows that there is hatred in your mind.

Man creates so many differences today. He differentiates between black and white, rich and poor, high and low. But you know better, don’t you? The goddess of learning does not differentiate. She gives knowledge to all. She has made even so-called poor people scientists and prime ministers and presidents.

Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri came from a poor family.

The American Former President Abraham Lincoln was the son of a poor farmer.

There is nothing more beautiful than love. There is nothing sweeter than love. Love is born when we give up being selfish. Love is born when we give up our pride and look towards others.

I am fair and he is dark.

My religion is pure, his religion is nothing.

The blood of my country is purer than the blood of that country.

The root of all these differences is the poison of hatred. Only love can cleanse the arrows of this poison.

This is the story of Sanghamitra. She was the daughter of Emperor Ashoka and she traveled far and wide carrying the message of Buddha. One day, a young man came to kill her. When he approached her, he found that Sanghamitra was tending the wounds of an old cow with great love and care. She was tying up the wounds with strips of her own clothing. The man was so moved by this display of love that he ran forward and fell at Sanghamitra’s feet. He begged her forgiveness.Love can melt the hardest heart. Anger and hatred have no place in life. Love holds the key.

Aeni’s only son died. Crying she ran to Swami Ramtirtha. “Prabhu, give me peace. Tell me what to do.”

“I have peace for you,” he said. “Peace is my business.” So saying he took her to a poor locality and put her hand into the hand of a small boy, an orphan child.

“Aeni, love this child. The more you love him, the more joy there will be in your heart.” Aeni did as he was told. Her heart was filled with love. Children from everywhere came to her for love and comfort.

Learn to love. Learn to be gentle. The gentle river cuts through the mountains. The rope cuts through stone. Love cuts through hardness. From love is born generosity, tolerance, greatness, compassion.

Sow the seed of love in your heart today. Sure! It will become a pleasant garden soon.
