Renewable sources of energy
Due to constantly increasing population, the natural resources are being depleted every day. The constantly depleting natural resources have led to a crisis of energy in countries all over the world. The energy crisis has led to sharp increase in prices all over the world. It is time that we start thinking of alternate sources of energy so that the remaining reserves of energy do not get depleted. Alternate sources of energy are the sources of energy which are very different from those which we use now. Alternate sources of energy can be renewable as well as non-renewable. But we must focus on renewable sources of energy as they are long lasting and will never get depleted. A few of those renewable sources are discussed below.
Solar energy
Sun is a star. Sun gives off light due to massive nuclear fusion reactions taking place in the core of the sun. This form of energy has heat as well as light. According to a study if all the energy of sunlight is harnessed then it would be enough to fulfill the complete 
energy needs. Solar energy can be harnessed in a number of ways. Installation of solar panel is one of those ways. Solar panel can be used to convert solar energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy can be used to light-up lights and can be user to power fans and coolers. Solar energy can be used in a solar cooker to cook food so eliminating the need of LPG gas.
Wind energy
Wind is a powerful source of energy. Windmill is a very important method of converting the power of wind into electrical energy. Windmill is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Windmills should be installed in places which are abundant in wind energy, for example – certain coastal areas are rich in wind energy. Hence wind energy can be used in place of non-renewable sources such as coal for generation of electr
icity.
Tidal energy
Tidal energy is the energy from the waves of the ocean. These waves can be used to turn the blades of turbines. Turbine is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. The electricity thus generated is transported to power stations which further distribute the electricity to houses.
Hence these renewable resources should be utilized for generation of power as they do not pollute the environment and are long lasting.
