Why do clouds form?

The sun warms the water in the ocean, in rivers and in the ground. As the water gets warmer it turns into water vapour and rises into the sky.water vapour is a gas, and you can't see it.After ir rises the water vapour cools. As it cools it turns into droplets of water or tiny bits of ice. When enough of the water droplets and ice come together, clouds are formed.

Why do clouds have different shapes?

Clouds have different shapes depending upon how high up they form.High in the sky there are cirrus clouds, with feathery white threads.Lower down there are fleecy clouds, like fluffy cotton. But height is'nt the only thing that matters. The wind forms clouds into many different shapes.

Why some clouds are white and some are black?

Some clouds are thin and others are thick.Because sunlight easily passes through thin clouds, they appear bright white.Light can't pass through thick clouds so easily. The parts where light passes through will appear white, but thick parts will remain black or dark.

Why does it rain?

Rain falls from clouds called rain clouds. They are dark and low in the sky.If u see this kind of cloud approaching, you can be pretty sure it's going to rain.

What is it like inside a rain cloud?

Rain clouds are made up of many water droplets and small bits or particles of ice. When the particles get heavy enough they start to fall towards the earth. They gather water around them as they fall. The ice particles grow larger, and then they melt and fall to earth as rain.

Where does the rain go?

Rainwater flows to lower ground, running along ditches and into sewers. Some of it stays on the ground in puddles. But the water in puddles disappears as it sinks into ground or evaporates, or turns into vapour and rises into air.

Why is the monsoon season so rainy?

In monsoon season, warm air currents flow from the tropical countries. The warm air tries to push the cool air, and the cool air tries to stay where it is.The warm air pushes so hard that it rises high into the sky. There is a lot of water vapour in the warm air, so it forms more and more clouds, Finally the rain pours down from these clouds.

Why does lightining flash?

As thunder clouds swell, electricity build up.Sometimes you can see a spark of electricity jumping from one cloud to another. And when it jumps to earth there is a flash of lightining.

Why does thunder rumble?

As you know, the movement of electricity inside clouds causes lightining. That movement presses and bumps against the air around it, and that producec sound. The air that was disturbed first then bumps against the next air to it, and so on.That produces the rolling rumble of thunder.

Where does lightining strike?

Lightining usually strikes tall objects like buildings and trees. It will also strike the metal objects.Sometimes it has even struck the metal tip of a umbrella or a hair pin.If you are playing in an open field or park where there are no tall objects, you should go inside right away if thunder cloud appears.
