Water Precious Resource

Water is very precious. It is a part of the ecological system. Water is the main source of human needs. Without water, we dehydrate and in the long term, it causes death. We need water in our daily lives. Water is in the form of river, ponds, in tank and under the ground. However, this water is not safe to drink. We first need to purify this water for our use.

Due to the growth in the population demand for fresh water increases. Water is a big necessity for all human beings. Plants cannot live without water. Animals and man need water to survive. Plants need water to make food and grow. Water is needed in our daily life. We need water for washing clothes, drinking and cooking food and washing utensils so water is very important for us. In some regions of the world, 15% of total electricity consumption is devoted to water management. Now a day this water is being polluted. The river water is being heavily polluted. Industrial wastes being thrown into the water, which damage the coral reefs and affects the sea creatures. During summer, the water table decreases and crisis for water increases a lot. We must store water to meet the need during summer.

We should not throw any waste in water. If we save water then there will be no crisis for water. We pollute water. The main shortage of water is cutting down of trees. As a reason hill, slopes are being cut down and this results in washing away of soils by wind, which results to clog the streams, and when there is no soil left to hold the rain water, flash flood occurs and water flows down to the sea, which results in the decrease of ground water level. We must recycle the wastewater for various purposes like cleaning, manufacturing and agricultural irrigation. We have to save each drop of water to fulfill our needs. Rainwater harvesting should be done and this water can be useful for agriculture and domestic purposes. Water should be made free from diseases. Many diseases occurred from water like cholera, diahorea and many others. We should be very careful not to drink any polluted water.

In villages, it is often seen that cattle’s are being taken to the river or pond to bath and these cattle pollute the water, which cannot be used for any purpose. It is very necessary to look after this matter. Steps should be taken to avoid dumping of sewage and garbage into the village ponds. More dams are to be built to check flood .No sewer water should be thrown into the rivers, which affects the marine life. We must not misuse water in this way. About 70% of earth is covered with water and 30% of land. However, we have enough water but only 1% of water is fresh while other are in the form of ice and salt water. Recently it has also been discussed by Amir Khan in his program Satya meva Jayate about the conservation of water. Govt has started various campaigns regarding conservation of water. Everywhere people are aware to save water.

It has been studied that more than petrol or land, it is over water that the most bitter conflicts of the near future may be fought. Therefore, it is our duty to save the most precious gift of nature. Each drop of water is essential for our life.
