Rising population – environment
Population is rising in the world.
The fact that the population of the earth has risen means that we need more resource like food, water and energy. That means we have cut down more and more trees, hunt more animals and birds, build larger cities – this endless chain of consequences. More people mean more cars and more factories to produce the goods we need. But this also means traffic and factory pollution.
Also, the abuse of technology and the ignorance of people cause a lot of damage to the environment.
Do you know the consequence of all these? The air which we need to live is polluted and contains more carbon dioxide than it should. This results in:
- Breathing problems and other diseases
- Acid rain which destroys plants and crops, and indirectly harms the animals and the people who eat them. It also pollution the ground and the water inside it and that means that the water we drink may also be polluted.
- You must be aware of the greenhouse effect. Because of it the temperature is raising, ice in the poles is slowly melting in form which will raise the sea level and cause climate changes.
Throwing rubbish in the lakes, rivers, and seas makes the water polluted and endangers the fishes and other animals and plants. If the water which we drink is polluted, it will lead to many diseases, sometimes fatal one.
Sometimes of the earth’s resources such as oil are not endless. We must avoid any wastage and save them.
The forest is a whole ecosystem where animals and plants live together. The trees in the forest produce clean oxygen for us. Their roots also prevent a landslide or a flood. Some forests have rare kinds of plants and animals which help to create new medicine and have other uses as well.
When forests are destroyed or trees are cut the whole ecosystem gets disturbed. Some plants and animals become extinct.
It is now absolutely clear that environment is extremely crucial for our survival. It is a precious gift of God to Mankind which must be respected and cared for, otherwise humanity will face serious consequences.
