Hi friends in this article we will discuss about the IPL 3 auction and here you can view about stats that were set by IPL before the auction took place. Here are some facts that were discussed and created before the auction took place for the third season.

1. 12 slots were available for IPL 3 and 67 players competed for these slots.
2. Australia, Pakistan and South Africa had the maximum number of players and this include 11 players from each of these countries.
3. Canada, Zimbabwe, Holland and Bangladesh also had one player each for the 12 slots in this auction.
4. Key players of this IPL auction included, Pollard of West Indies, Bond of New Zealand, Parnell of South Africa, Morgan and Swann of England, Afridi, Nazir, Amir,Razzaq of Pakistan.
5. A new rule called "Silent Tie Breaker" was introduced by IPL committee and this will be applied when the same price was announced by more than one team for a single player.
6. Each team had an amount of $ 750,000 and it was believed Punjab had only $600,000, whereas Chennai had more money as they were searching for a replacement for Kevin Peterson.
7. The maximum base price set for a player in IPL 3 was $250,000 and interesting Pollard was with a base prize of $200,000
8. Mohammed Kaif was the only Indian player who featured in the IPL 3 Auction.
9. Ricky Ponting is out of IPL 3.
10. prior to the auction, Shane Bond of New Zealand announced that he was very interested in playing Under Dhoni's captaincy for Chennai Super Kings.
