what a superb 2nd test match between India and South Africa.
It was a great match so many records and so many things to be gained from it .i dont see every test match fully but this one was really a one many would have love to see. The match was at Eden Gardens in Kolkata which is a very popular stadium. South Africa won the match and decided to bat first.
If the match was drawn or won by Africa then India would have not got the 1st spot in test rankings back. South Africa started well and both Peterson and Amla made centuries but due to the fight back by Indian team South Africa got all out on 296 . South Africa had got a good start and no one could have thought that they would get out so early all were thinking that they will easily make 400to 500 runs this was due to fight back by Indian team.
If India wanted to win the match then India needed to give atleast 150 to 250 runs lead and Indians did it . Four Indian batsmen Virendar Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar , VVS laxman , MS Dhoni all hit centuries and this was kind of record.India made 643 runs for 6 and declared giving a lead of 347 which will be very tough task for African team.
Lead of 347 runs would be always tough for any country batting on the 4th and 5th day against Indian spinners. On the 4th day South Africa lost only 3wickets as most of the play was disturb by the day. Amla was on the crease and was looking awesome to play a big innings again. On the 5th day the weather was fine wickets kept on going and on the other hand Amla was going on playing his way. It was a very close match only two results seem to be possible draw or India winning It was very pretty exciting when some overs were left and India had to take only 1 wicket to win the match and to retain the spot. In the second last over when Harbhajan Singh took the wicket it was a awesome scene and there was a lot of noise made by the crowd and India got the first spot back in the test rankings.
