Adam Gilchrist became the first cricketer in the history of Indian Premier League to score 1000 career runs.  While it is no surprise for millions who follow cricket to see the Australian superstar achieve the milestone first, it should have been a pleasant surprise for Gilchrist had once famously remarked that he feels scary when he watches the pace at which T20 cricket is played.

Sachin Tendulkar achieved yet another first in his illustrious career when he became the first player in the history of Indian Premier to score his first 1000 runs as skipper.  M S Dhoni became the second player to achieve the milestone. Infact Sachin Tendulkar and M S Dhoni are the only players to have scored their entire career runs in IPL in the role of captains of their respective teams.

Sachin Tendulkar became the first skipper in the history of Indian Premier League to aggregate 500 or more runs in a edition of IPL.  Sachin Tendulkar is only the second player in IPL history to aggregate 600 runs in a tournament.  Sachin's 618 runs in IPL 2010 is a new record, breaking Shaun Marsh's record of 616 set in 2008.

Kallis and Ganguly ended up IPL 2010 as 2nd and 4th highest run getter's with 572 runs and 493 runs respectively but the duo also had the dubious distinction of having one of the poorest strike rates in IPL 2010. Kallis finished with a poor strike rate of 115.78 while Ganguly was only marginally better with a strike rate of 117.66. Incidenttaly Ganguly and Kallis are known to be good strikers having hit 190 and 126 sixes respectively in one dayers.

Bravo who performed poorly in IPL 2010 had twin experiences of a pleasant surprise and a huge shock.  Bravo who was dropped after some poor performances was recalled in the team for their final match against Kolkatta and to Bravos surprise he was appointed as captain in the absence of  Sachin who was rested. A shock awaited Bravo as he was dropped  In the very next match and never got a chance to play in the semifinals and finals.

After the third edition of IPL, Indias much celebrated captain Sourav Ganguly holds the dubious dinstinction of heading the only team in the tournament which has never made it to the semi finals. While Kolkatta are the only team never to have made the semis, Delhi and Punjab have never made it to finals.

Deccan Chargers finished their league matches with a unique record.  They won all their matches against Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Punjab while they lost all their matches to Mumbai, Rajasthan and Kolkatta.

Deccan Chargers failed to beat their opponents when it mattered the most.  They comfortably beat media favourites Chennai and Bangalore on both occassions in their league matches.  They however failed to beat Chennai for a place in final and then Bangalore for a place in Champions League.

Luck played a major role in IPL 2010.  7 wins were not good enough for fancied Delhi and hyped Kolkatta to make it to the semifinals but that was good enough for Bangalore to reach the semis and Chennai to eventually clinch the title.
