If a team finds itself at the top of the rankings then it has to be due to collective effort of individual players and it has been true in Indias case as Indian batsmen head the rankings in Tests and One Day Internationals.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the number one ranked ODI player in the world with 807 points while Delhi Dasher Virender Sehwag, the one man demolition army occupies the top sot in Tests with 863 points. Sachin Tendulkar whose last four tests fetched him consectuive hundreds and a double century in the last one dayer he played finds himself in the top 10 in both Tests and One Dayers to reinforce his status as the best batsman in the world. Being the number one team in the world and having our batsmen top the rankings is a great moment to cherish if you are one among the millions for whom cricket is a religion but has been really a icing on the cake is the fact that women players too are on the top of the world as far as rankings as concerned.
With 823 points Mithali Raj is the number one batswoman in the world in one dayers while J Goswami with 777 points is the number one ODI bowler in the world. Few years back it would have been a dream to have four Indians heading invidual rankings in cricket, but today is a reality and for once we should be proud of our players rather than being critical of them as when a opportunity presents.
