Onus on bowlers to finish of Nagpur Test
Team India had one of the easiest days in their Test history on the third day of the third and final test played in Nagpur. With a lead of 99 runs Indian batsmen had just one thing to do and that is go for personal glory without worrying about anything and that is what exactly they achieved and in the process put New Zealand out of the test match and series.
Rahul Dravid made the most of yet another opportunity in his carer by scoring his second century of the series against a depleted New Zealand attack. In the first test Rahul Dravid made the most of the situation stonewalling to a century as Sehwag's brilliance allowed him the luxury of not worrying about rate and in the final test it was a similar situation as India were well in control and that allowed Dravid the luxury of ambling to yet another century. With 341 runs Rahul Dravid is the second highest run getter for India in the series behind Virender Sehwags tally of 398 runs but one must say that Rahul Dravid was fortunate to get the chunk of his runs in situations tailor made for him as was on the third day of Nagpur test.
Sachin and Dhoni would have regrets on missing out possible milestones. Against a attack of this nature it was a golden opportunity for Sachin to have reached his 50th Test century but one gets the feeling that there was nothing in the bowling attack to challenge him and he probably fell due to lack of motivation and that appears to be case with skipper M S Dhoni as fell as he fell short of a well deserved century and he has every reason to feel about that because not many times he would have a chance to get to a century in a batting order which has the likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Laxman, Gambhir and Dravid.
