Englands Tour of India 2011-Review
The much hyped England tour of India Started on October 13 2011.this series included 5 odis and 1 t20. This comes after the whitewash of Indians by the England in recently concluded India tour of England 2011.india could not even win a single match in all the formats of the game.
The highly regarded Indian batting setup faltered under the pace attack of stuart broad and james Anderson. rahul dravid was the only batsman who showed some resilience to fight back. As per the schedule the first ODI was held at Hyderabad on October 14 at the famous Rajiv Gandhi stadium in uppal. Second ODI was at New Delhi on October 17 at the feroz shah kotla stadium. Third ODI was played at the Mohali Punjab cricket association stadium on October 20.the new modified wankhade stadium, Mumbai hosted the fourth ODI on October 23.the Kolkata Eden gardens stadium which lost the rights to host the India- England world cup match got their revenge when India took on England in the fifth one day match on October 26 and the only twenty 20 match on October 29.all matches was played as day/might match and were scheduled to start at 14:30 hours.
The Indian team included: 1. Ms dhoni 2. Gautam gambhir 3. Pativ patel 4. Virat kohli 5. Suresh raina 6. manoj tiwary 7. ajinkya rahane 8. ravindra jadeja 9. ravichandran ashwin 10. pravin kumar 11. rahul Sharma 12. vinay kumar 13. umesh yadav 14. varun aaron 15. sreenath aravind In this new team which did not include the Indian traditional hardcore bowlers-zaheer khan and harbhajan singh, the new guys had lot more work. Ravichandran ashwin and Praveen kumar provided breakthroughs and they shouldered the responsibility. The result was a clean whitewash or brown wash as it is being called now among Indian fans. The revenge was complete when India defeated England 5-0 in the ODI matches. But India however lost the only twenty 20 match at Kolkata
