Indian cricket team lead by Dhoni is considered by many as the best in the history of Indian cricket.Gavaskar differs on this opinion but the 1983 world cup winning captain,Kapil Dev do not have any other opinion.With the likes of Sachin Tendulkar,Rahul Dravid,v.v.s Laxman in the test team, it was no wonder that India was number one in test rankings for a very long time.Such an experienced crop of batsmen with almost 40,000 test runs between them is an asset to any team in the world.Their names still make many of the greatest bowlers twist an eyebrow.
The most positive factor for India has been the presence of a stable and cool captain in Mahendra Singh Dhoni. His stature and behaviour makes the youngsters to play to their potential.Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina,Ravindra Jadeja,Yusuf Pathan, Rohith Sharma ,all have secured a mark in Indian cricket under his captaincy.Apart from being the captain ,Dhoni is a reliable hand behind the stumps too.
The other factor which makes India unbeatable has been the right mix of experience and youth in the team.In the one day team,Sachin,Sehwag,Dhoni,Yuvraj,Gambir,Zaheer and Harbhajan provides the necessary experience , while Kohli,Raina,Praveen,Umesh,Ashwin,and Ishanth is a pack of youngsters raring to go.Every batsman in Indian team is a match winner on their day. They can win matches for the team,out of the blue.This makes the Indian team much more unpredictable.How many times have we seen India winning matches after going 6 down ..thanks to Pathan,Dhoni and Jadeja..they are the best lower middle order in the world.
The one thing India has always lacked had been the absence of real pace bowlers in the country.there were talents who could take the responsibility,but every one of them have been plagued by injuries. Zaheer khan still remains the top bet while Praveen Kumar has built up his reputation as a clever customer.Sreesanth has always been inconsistent save his on field pranks.Ishanth and Nehra are still nursing injuries.Irfan Pathan has lost his pace and touch.a new crop of bowlers have emerged waiting for the opportunity to unveil..Vinay Kumar,Umesh Yadhav,Varun Aaron and Sreenath Aravind. They will have to work hard on their fitness if they do not want to go down in history as their predecessors.
