With the advent of T20 cricket, the very of survival of test cricket has become a question. Even the game's most loyal players prefer T20 to tests. People cannot be blamed for liking the shortest version of the game.  The main reason being that T20 last just for three hours and more importantly has a result  while the test cricket more often fails to produce a result. No one wants to watch a game that is played for five days and still ends up in a draw. Test cricket should have better pitches to survive. Pitches that help both the batsmen and the bowlers. Only then can we think of having players like McGrath, Warne, Sachin etc. If the ICC doesn't do something about the pitches soon no one would want test cricket. It is test cricket that can bring out the real talent of cricketers, be it batsmen, bowlers or wicketkeepers. The recently concluded Ashes was just an example of how good pitches can bring out the best of test  cricket. The longer version of the game needs  to be promoted more and it is only test cricket that can produce the greatest players. T20 is good entertainment that people love but for the game to survive test cricket must survive.
