As we know Indian Team are out of the ICC Champions Trophy. Before the start of the event India were tagged as the favourites to win the team after winning the Compaq Cup Tri-Series in Sri Lanka, and also they had reached the No.1 spot in ICC ODI Rankings during the Tri-Series. So they were rated one of the hot favourities.
But India failed to handle the pressure of the No. 1 team tag, and failed miserably, though India got out of the tournament just because a single lose against Pakistan, as they didnt got the chance to prove themselves in the match against Australia due to heavy rains, and India won again the West Indies yesterday still it didnt helped India to enter the Semi-Finals.
But still, if u guys see, India stand with No.2 rank in the ICC ODI Rankings, whereas Australia are with 126 points with No.1 spot, Australia are up with England in the semis, if England manage to win it, Australia will lose 2-3 points and will slip to 2nd spot, and India will become No.1 again, and that will be an end to ICC Champions Trophy.
So even after such a miserable tournament, India may end up getting No. 1 after this ODI ICC Event having all the teams.
The winner of Champions Trophy may be the best ODI team currently, but the rankings may show the best with No.1 rank in the Rankings.
As New Zealand, England & Pakistan far behind from IND, AUS & SA in rankings below 110 points, they dont have any chance to catch up with their ranks to become No.
