Match Fixing
In the past there have been allegation against our cricketers for fixing matches. While this seems to have been going on for almost two decades, only once in 2000 action was taken against cricketers when players themselves confessed to have fixed matches. It is possible that fixing of matches would have been going in prior to the year 2000 or may be continuing even now also. May be because of the fear that some cricketers were already penalized it is on a lower scale now.
My appeal to cricketers all over the world is to consider the following aspects before getting involved in fixing matches.
1) It is a honour for anybody to represent their country in any freld. It need to be cricket or any sport but in any field.
2) Fixing a match would mean cheating the country they belong to.
3) Many people pay money to watch them play for their countries. Millions of viewers spend hundreds and thousands of hours watching their matches. Sometimes they bunk their office or colleges. Sometimes after a busy days work they will be watching the matches throughout the night, foregoing their sleep and rest for their bodies. Next day they have to reach their respective offices, colleges on time. That is the expectation they have from a player representing their motherland. Fixing matches would mean that particular player is cheating millions of people millions of people.
4) In 1992 World Cup when Pakistan were playing New Zealand, a Pakistani fan died of a heart attack, because Pakistani bowlers were getting thrashed by New Zealand. Though Pakistan won that match and the World Cup, that poor fan was not alive to see Pakistan's win. That is the passion people for have for their idols and team, and players should remember that before fixing matches.
This is a request to players all across the world to think of their countries and millions of their sincere passionate followers.
