Hi friends I gues most of you are aware about the Super Sixes Tournament which takes place every year in Hong Kong, which usually takes place at Kowloon Cricket Club,  and it is a competition which takes place between 10 teams.

This year the tournament has started yesterday(31st November) and it will be fineished on 1st November.Usually evey year this is a 2 days tournament and it takes place on the weekends on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hong Kong being the host will take part along with 9 other teams of the world and last year a team called "All Stars" participated in the tournament but they failed to win the cup.The inaugural tournament was started way back 17 years ago in 1992 and Pakistan won the inaugural cup, with India finished second.

England has won the tournament 5 times and it is also the defending champions, as they beat Australia in 2008 final.India won the tournament once in 2005, when they beat West Indies.Pakistan won the cup 4 times.

This year the tournament features 8 teams and it is divided into 2 groups called as North and South:

North Group:

1)India

2)Sri Lanka

3)Pakistan

4)England

South Group:

1)Australia

2)South Africa

3)New Zealand

4)Hong Kong

The present Indian team who are participating in this tournament includes

  • Gaurav Dhiman
  • J Arunkumar
  • Manish Pandey
  • Reetinder Sodhi
  • Sriram Sridharan
  • Stuart Binny

The team has been eliminated after losing to New Zealand on Sunday(1st Nov. 2009.The rules of this Hong Kong Super Six is different from that of ordinary cricket and this includes

1)Only six players in a team

2)All matches are 5 over matches

3)Except wicket keeper others should bowl one over

4)The final match consists of 8 balls per over

5)Wides and No balls count for 2 runs

6)After getting 31 runs players should retire

7)Recently a new wide rule was established and according to this there will be a line for wides and even if we bowl on the leg sides if we bowl within the line it is not a  No ball.

8)After 5 wickets fell, then the batsman who is out must stay and just be a runner to support the last batsman
