These days thanks to information technologies, cricket fans are kept aware of each and every record.  However there are some records in Test Matches, which many of us are not aware of, or have forgotten.  Through this article I would like to mention those records.

1.Graham Gooch scores 456 runs in a Test Match :-Md Azharuddin who was surprisingly appointed as captain of India ahead of many capable seniors, did not have any hesitation in asking England to bat first on a perfect pitch for batting at Lords on 26th July 1990  Graham Gooch took full advantage of Azharuddins decision to score a Triple Century and a century in the same Test.  Gracham Gooch socred 333 in the first innings and 123 in the second innings for a total of 456 runs in the Test Match which is a world record.

2. Sri Lanka scores 952 for 6 wickets in a Test Match:- On 2nd August 1997 Sanath Jayasuriya at the peak of his powers led Sri Lanka to a world record score of 952 for 6 declared.  Sanath Jayasurya known for hitting bowlers out of the stadium, showed remarkable patience to build a innings in scoring 340 runs in 578 deliveries which then was a Sri Lankan for the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan..

3. 588 runs scored in a single day in a Test:- On 25th Jul 1936 at Manchester, 588 runs were scored in a single day for the loss of 8 wickets in a single days play in a Test Match. England scored moved from 173 for 2 wickets to 571 runs for 8 wickets while India finished the day at 190 for 2 wickets. England scored 398 runs on that particular day while India scored 190 for a combined total of 588 runs.

4. 309 runs by Sir Donald Bradman in a single day:- On 11th July 1930, Sir Donald Bradman scored a triple century in a single days play when he scored 309.

5. 974 runs in a series:- In 1930 Sir Donald Bradman scored 974 runs in a single series which is a world record.

6. 1788 runs by Md Yousuf in a year:- Md. Yousuf formerly known as Yousuf Youhana holds the record for the maximum number of runs in a single year when he scored 1788 runs in 2006.

7. 100 sixes in a career:- Adam Gilchrist is the the first and only player ever in the history of Test Cricket to score 100 sixes.

There are still lots of records which are not known to many, but the above mentioned records are major ones and hence posted for the benefit of fans.
