India really had a disastrous day, on the third day of the 1st test match between India and Sri Lanka. Just a couple of wickets fell, but the opposition scored 316 runs in a day, thanks to the double century from Mahela Jayawardena. So India really needs to work hard to stay in the match and they need to do something special to save the match. With a lead of over 165 runs, Sri Lanka really wants to win this by an innings and they would give a great challenge for the Indians. The bowlers tried their level best, but unfortunately they managed to take only a couple of wickets.

The highlight of the day 3 was the double century by Mahela Jatawardena, and this is its sixth double century. This is also his 27th test century and he does this in his 108th test match. The Lankans finished the day with 591/5 and with two Jayawardena’s in the crease they will try for a 300 runs lead and will declare. Earlier in the day, Samarawera was caught by a good reflex catch, in the bowling of Ishant Sharma and India also managed to take the wicket of Angelo Mathews, who was set to smash the Indian bowling attack, as he struck a six and four of the consecutive delivery.

Harbhajan took this wicket and Mathews was out caught by Gambir just before the lunch. So India though that they could wrap up the rest of players, but to everybody’s surprise Prasana Jayawardena played a great innings and supported his senior in a great partnership of 150 and above and he finished the day with a score of 84 not out. The morale of the Indian team was down and I guess this might reflect n the batting, but I wish that should not happen. Hope we at least save the match.
