Hi friends in this article let us discuss about one of the every interesting topic which shocked the powerful cricket governing body in this world. Everybody knew which organization I am discussing about and if your guess is correct, it is none other than the Board of Cricket Control in India and this is the richest cricket organization in the world, and some say that they are richer than the ICC, but not sure about this data. So naturally any decision to be made by the ICC, the power of BCCI can be felt and this has made BCCI more powerful than any other cricketing body in this world.

At present everyone knew who is the sponsor of the Indian cricket team and as a matter o fact the font size of the sponsor is same of more in size when compared to that of the India name in the jersey. Sahara is also the sponsor of the Under 19 and also the Women’s cricket team and that makes Sahara, the ultimate sponsor for the entire cricket team. We would have seen the logo of Sahara in the Indian T shirt, for around 4 years and Sahara brought this sponsorship deal for a very high amount and let us discuss about this later in the article.

The sponsorship deal between Sahara and BCCI ends by the end of this year. But to everyone’s surprise the BCCI haven’t got any response from any of the sponsors for a new deal. The reason why any of the sponsors turned up is that, BCCI has set very high amount of the sponsorship deal for the next four years and as a matter of fact this amount is twice that of the amount spent by Sahara four years earlier, and naturally many felt such a huge investment beyond the par value may not be worth.

So coming to the statistical analysis of the amount involved in the sponsorship, Sahara has paid 400 crores for the sponsorship for 4 years. Do you know how they calculate for a match? For a single match Sahara has to pay 2 crores to the BCCI and this is a very huge amount from a single sponsor. Apart from this BCCI also gets money from the TV rights and as a matter of fact the sponsorship deal for this TV rights goes to thousands of crores and this is one of the best source of income for the BCCI.

BCCI also pays the team member for every match, which will be around some lakhs and they also pay them a yearly fees based on the category of the contract. So they earn lot and give salary to the players, but a couple of years ago we also got information that the BCCI delayed the payment due to some reasons. Another report also says that even though India had an early exit from the 2007 50-50 world cup in West Indies, the ICC played BCCI a sum of around 43 crores for participating in the tournament.

Coming back to sponsorship issue, BCCI has set deadline on 22nd November for the sponsorship deal of around 600 to 650 crores, which is around 3 crores for every match that India played between 2010 and 2013, nearly 170 international matches. But they didn’t get any response and so they also extended the deadline to November 24, but the result the same, as no sponsors have turned up. Recently Nimbus brought the TV rights for India matches at home for 200 crores, for the next years, which is around 714 crores less than that of the previous contracts. So the demand is clearly reducing and BCCI doesn’t get any sponsors till December 31, then they might extend the contract with the current sponsors Sahara till March 2010. Let us wait and see what is happening and let us enjoy the match as a spirited Indian fan. We also wish that the government take care of other games in India also, so that we could shine in all the sporting events.
