Selecting a travel destination is easy task if the traveler has a specific interest. For instance, classic treks can be good option to travel for serious trekkers or walking lovers. But they also require fit legs and body along with good preparation for thrilling and rewarding experience. For people who love treks, there are some well-known places in world that should be visited in lifetime. 

Everest Base Camp trek on the south in Nepal

This challenging south side trekking route in Himalayas is popular as well as dangerous for novice trekkers. It takes around 3 weeks to explore this trek and to reach the Kala Pattar at a height of 5,545m or 18,193ft. A typical journey of the trekkers begin by taking a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and then climbing upward from Lukla to Namche Bazaar and then to the valley of the Dudh Kosi river. It usually takes time for the trekkers to acclimatize and hence need a day to rest. Then they move towards Dingboche and the Everest Base camp. The journey is literally hectic if done continuously and altitude can make trekkers feel dizzy.

Famous Inca Trail in Peru

This ancient trail located in Peru leads travelers to the "Lost City of the Incas" or Machu Picchu. Surrounded by cloudy forest and mountains this 33km trail is in South America and is laid by the famous Incas. Taking any of the three routes Mollepata, Classic or One Day; trekkers can reach the final terminus known as Sun Gate on the Machu Picchu Mountain. The white tipped mountains, lusty forests and ancient ruins of the Incas is sure to delight the eyes of the visitors. 

GR20 or Fra li Monti in France

Grand Randonnee (GR) 20 is 180 km long trail that traverses through the Corsica and is considered to be toughest trail to walk, in the Europe. It is notorious for its rocky and steep path along with slippery rocks and shaky bridges. The path is created in 1972 and consists of two parts: the northern part that connects Calenzana and Vizzavona and the southern part that connects Vizzavona and Conca. It takes around 15 days for the trekkers to walk through whole trail. But the granite moonscapes, glacier lakes, ice formed plains and snow-capped peaks although the path can make the trip adventurous and pleasant too. 

Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia

This prehistoric track runs between the Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair National Park in Tasmania region of Australia. It is 80km well planned path and passes through terrain ranging from craggy mountains, wild rivers, waterfalls, forests and plains. Apart from main track there are various sidewalks which also include Mt Ossa, the tallest peak in the region.  For any experienced trekker it takes around 5-6 days and the route can create hazards like snakebites and Hypothermia.

Indian Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh

These greatest and oldest mountain ranges have extremely challenging paths to trek for trekking lovers. Though it is isolated part of Indian region in Himachal Pradesh, inveterate trekkers can have a try once. Teetering on the mountain tops for 24 days from Spiti region to Ladakh can be exciting in these ancient trade routes. Surrounded by glaciers, fresh water lakes, divine peaks and shrines the trail at its miserable high altitude can inspire anyone to visit again and again.   

Routeburn Track in South Island, New Zealand

Located in South Island this three day 32km track covers some amazing subalpine landscapes and overlaps two major national parks in the region: Fiordland National Park and Mount Aspiring National Park. While passing through the trail, trekkers can view the highlights such as Lake Harris and from the top of Conical Hill; they can watch waves contravening the beach shore. However, to enjoy these views in this hike, pre-booking is quiet important or else it is challenging for trekkers to secure a place among the allowed visitors.

The Haute Route or High Route in France and Switzerland

This popular route was charted as a summer mountaineering route and links two European mountaineering centers in-between France and Switzerland. It traverses some scenic places from Chamonix through Zermett. The Haute Route is now developed to ski route and then to high-level mountain hike for trekking and hiking adventure. For walkers it takes around 13 days to complete this route and to cover every section, good fitness is quiet essential.  

The Narrows in Zion National Park, USA

These sections of canyons in the North Fork of the Virgin River is 26km long and is one of the best hikes in entire Colorado Plateau. Hiking in Narrows is most usual thing for trekkers as the route is mostly a river and they have to spend wading or swimming. The canyons walls stand vertical and the river runs from one canyon wall to another. Traversing through some hanging gardens, natural springs and camp grounds in the park, trekkers can enjoy the beauty of nature as well as have a pleasant walk.

Baltoro Glacier and K2 in Pakistan

The longest glacier outside polar region, Baltoro Glacier and the second highest peak in the world, K2 are famous trekking destinations. Located in Pakistan this trek links some awesome sceneries in the world. It starts following chilled rivers to the glaciers and then leads to the granite mountains such as Paiju, Uli Biaho, Great Trango Tower and finally the K2. It takes around 15 days to complete this trip and to make the journey more exciting, there are side trips too. 

To visit any of these places it is must to be physically fit as for beginners it may be challenging to complete successfully.
