You can register by giving your name, email id, address, username, password and mobile no. Confirmation email from IRCTC will be sent to your email id. Your account creation will be confirmed after you clicked the link which was sent to your email id. You can login using your username and password, which were provided by you at the time of registration.
You can easily search trains by giving source and destination places or its corresponding place code (I.e. MAS – Chennai, SBC- Bangalore city), date of journey, class, and ticket type. By providing the details of the train no, date of journey, passenger name, age, preferred birth type, concession required or not you can make train reservation online for Indian railways. Train tickets only booked 60 days before the date of journey. TATKAL tickets will be booked one day before the date of journey.
Tickets will be reserved only if you provide your Credit card/Debit card/Internet bank/ITZ cash card information of your bank. Your bank will collect a small amount as a service charge for the transaction made by you online. After you made the reservation, your journey details will be emailed to your mail id if it is booked through e-ticket scheme and will get SMS in your mobile. I-ticket will be delivered to the passenger home address by courier.
By giving the PNR code in the website which consists of 10 digits you will know the status of your train ticket, whether it is confirmed, waiting list, RAC, etc. In waiting list ticket, you can’t travel in the reserved coach but in the case of RAC, your seat is confirmed, but you cannot avail birth facility.
You should take a print copy of your journey details and should show it to the ticket examiner with one of the identity proof such as Driving license, passport, pan card, etc. in original. If you did not provide the original identity card at the time of journey, it will be treated as traveling without ticket and the ticket examiner will collect fine for you as per the railway rules.
You can cancel the ticket by logging in the site and can find a link called “booked history” by clicking it and selecting the train or passenger who you want to cancel. Ticket cancellation will be made by you until four hours before the scheduled departure of the train. After that, IRCTC examines about the journey details, and if you are not traveled, your amount will be automatically credited to your bank account after deducting the cancellation charges.
If you want to postpone the journey, you should cancel the ticket and book a fresh ticket.
