West Bengal- It is an east Indian state and most popular state for its culture and customs. Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal are boarders of west Bengal. There are many tourist destinations in Bengal like Kolkata, Sunder ban, Digha, Darjeeling etc.
Now some details about some destinations of West Bengal
Darjeeling- It is one of the hottest destinations of West Bengal. It is a hill area. Kanchenjunga is the main attraction of Darjeeling. It is the highest peak of India also. Mainly it is a cold area. Tiger hill, Mirik, Male, Rock garden are some famous places to see here. Weather of Darjeeling is very healthy also. Momo is a special food here. Darjeeling tea is world famous. Culture and custom of Darjeeling are very nice and Bengali, Nepali, Hindi are spoken languages here. The people of Darjeeling are very simple and always welcome tourists from their heart.Darjeeling is called second Kashmir also due to its natural beauties.
Next Kolkata- It is the capital of West Bengal. Previously it was the capital of India also. Many famous persons were born here. Many architectural works from the British period are increasing the beauty of Kolkata. Victoria Memorial is one of them. Monument, Alipore zoo, Birla planetarium and some other places are to visit also. National library of Kolkata is also famous place where all types of books in different languages are available. Science city and Nicko Park are also famous. Above this many museum and various types of parks may be also attractive to tourists. The Ganges River, high court building, state assembly are also some places in Kolkata to see. Eden garden- the famous stadium is here in Kolkata. Metro rail which is the oldest railway service in underground may be another attraction also. Above this race course, Ferry ghat etc are also famous. Howrah Station has also a attraction. If we go there ,we may see how many peoples are coming and going through a station.
Sunder ban- Do you not want to hear the live roaring of Royal Bengal Tiger? Come to sunder ban. It is famous here. Safari in Sunder ban may be a life time memory. It is a forest area, where in one side is Bengal and in other side is Bangladesh. The mangrove forest of here is world famous. Sunder ban is a Bengali name which means beautiful forest. It lies in the delta of Bay of Bengal. This forest covers total 10000 square kilometer. This forest is also famous for chital deer, wild boars and also tiger. Large scale of honey is collected from this forest also. Crocodiles and birds increase the beauty of nature here. Sunder ban National Park and sunder ban tiger project are another attraction of Bengal.
Digha- It is another place of sea beaches and may be a attractive destination of Bengal. It is in east Midnapore district of Bengal and lies in the end of Bay of Bengal. There are two popular beaches in Digha. One is in old Digha and the other is in new Digha.Shankarpur, Chandreswar Shiva temple, Talsari, Mander bani, etc are famous places to see in Digha. Digha is famous for fish also. Many types of sea fishes are available here. You can purchase and can take a test also from Mohana fish market.
Murshidabad- This city is situated on the bank of the Ganges and the Bhagirathi River. Once it was the capital of Mughals. It has been bearing many instances of that era and so it is also an attraction of many history lovers. Some historical places like Hazarduari palace, Nashipur Rajbari, Kathgola are some famous places to visit. Dhuliyan city is one of the old cities of here. Nawab Sirajuddawla’s palace is also famous. Sirajuddawla was the last emperor who was defeated by British.
Here i am mentained some places but there are many places to visit in Bengal. Thousands of tourists come here every year.
Language spoken in Bengal
The main language of West Bengal is Bengali and it is also official language of this state.. But the people of Bengal know Hindi, and English also. Nepali and Bhutia are also spoken in Darjeeling of West Bengal. It is said that Bengali language is derived from Pali, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Persian, Arabic etc. It is very sweet language also.
Food of Bengal
The special and delicious dish of Bengal is the items of fish. Rice and fish curry are the main food of Bengal people. But now people also like Roti of wheat and other some continental dishes.Sweet especially Rosgulla is famous in Bengal. The regular meal of Bengal ends with a sweet item and in all occasion sweets are must. Above these Payash and cards are also famous and tasty. Many times many organization arranged food festivals also to give some taste of Bengal foods.There are many tourist spots along with many hotels and restaurants also. So food is not a problem at all as the restaurants are ready to serve all type of dishes , it may be chinese or continental.
Culture
West Bengal is famous for its rich and glorious cultural heritage. Different religion follows different types of cultures and enriched the culture of Bengal. Art, dance, music, and craft are famous here. Fairs and Festivals
Durga puja is the main festival of Bengal, but Kali puja, Poila Baisakh( nababarsha), Diwali, Saraswati puja, Id, Muharrum and Christmas are some famous festival, Though celebrated by different religion but every bodies take part in all ceremonies. All people assemble together and greet each other in all occasions. So it is a land of festivals. There is a Bengali proverb,”Baro mass tero parbon” which means twelve months but thirteen festivals. If you see or follow the Bengali calendar then it can be seen about numbers of festivals of Bengal.
There are some regional festivals also like nabanna etc.In Nabadwip and Mayapur yearly festivals are happened. bengali people love to celebrate all festivals with all together.
Sports
Cricket, football, kho-kho, kabadi are some popular games of West Bengal. Mohunbagan and East Bengal are two popular clubs here. The renowned stadium, Eden Garden is in Kolkata which is one of the largest stadiums of India. Famous Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and Pankaj Roy, Leander paes, Grand master Dibyendu Barua are some famous sports personalities of Bengal.
How to reach different destination
Howrah and Kolkata are the main central places from where anyone can go anywhere by bus or train or even by car also. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport is in Dumdum, Kolkata. Road connectivity is also good. Transportation system and farcicalities are also healthy. So there is no difficulty to go anywhere by any transport. Howrah and sealdah is main two railway junction from where eastern and south eastern rails move. Kolkata Metro is the first underground metro in India and still now is running successfully.Above this all destinations are well connected with all major cities. Asansole, Dugapur, Bankura, Bardhaman, Baharampur, Maldah, Etc are some popular cities of West Bengal.
Best time to visit
Except monsoon all time is the best time to visit West Bengal. All six seasons are present here. Lowest temperature may be 3 to five degree in winter and highest may be 38 to 45 degree in summer. Snowfalls and ice can be seen in winter in Darjeeling and surrounding area as it is the Himalayan hill region.In rainy season there may be some difficulties to go to any destination. So better to avoid this time.
Some other famous places are Cooch Behar palace in Cooch Behar, Hazarduari in Murshidabad, Adina Mosque, Gour in Maldah, Shantiniketan in Bhirbhum, Bishnupur Terracotta temples in Bankura , Dakshineswar Kali temple of Ramakrisna Paramhansa Dev etc.So come once to visit Bengal and it will be a enjoyable tour for all.
Now State Government also has taken some decisions to decorate and maintain the visible places. There are many holy places also in West Bengal like Tarapith, Kalighat etc. Belur math is another place to visit. There is also a museum also here with some usable things of Ramakrisna and Swami Vivekananda.
