On the first day of the festival family keep importance. On the next day they worship the Sun and the last day of Pongal Moon is worshiped. They have their own faith. They prepare the Prasad from rice and jaggery. They have to distribute among the people. Not only this Domestic animals also get this Prasad. Not only this, This festival is not a festival for a single person. In some part of Rural areas people organize a meal, made from the grain produced after harvesting and distributed to other persons.
2. Thai Pusam
This famous festival is totally depends on faith. This is organized in a Temples for the worship of Kartikeya, The God of Bravery, the person need to show their faith by walking on the burning coal. This is followed by the Singing and the dancing according to their Tradition.
3. The Kavadi Festival
This festival is celebrated to worship the Lord Muruga. Devotee like to dance in a Mesmeric way with the loud noise of drumming. They have to carry the kavadi on the Palani Hills located in Tamil Nadu. This will fulfill their Demand. This festival is celebrated during the month of April or May.
4. Float Festival
This festival is celebrated as a remember Lord Alagar, Avatar of Vishnu, accept the marriage of his sister also known as Goddess Meenakshi to the statues of the Lord Sundaresa after this the Golden Bull is arranged in which the married couple sit and they reach near to boat like structure full of flowers and floated away. This festival is celebrated on the full night. Along with the people also travel and continue their dancing and spraying different kind of flowers.
5. Karthigai Deepam
This festival is celebrated like a Diwali. The people of Tamil Nadu keep a pattern of burning lamp outside their house and followed by bursting of Crackers in order to show their joy.
6. The Velankanni Festival
This festival is celebrated in order to remember the soul of the Virgin Mary, this is made by all those lucky Portuguese sailors who escape from death after the damage of a ship. A large number of people attain this festival. The place is a church also known as " the Lords of the East".
7. The Kanthuri Festival
This festival is celebrated to show a devotion to the the saint famous because he wants to well-being of people from heart known as Quadirwali. This festival continues for ten days. On the ten day the Tomb of the Saint is pasted with the paste of sandalwood. This paste is a sign of amazing power as thinking of people.
