Before two year one comic poet conference was cancleald by sardars. The only reason behind it is that one poet read poem on them. It is true I'm living in a place where Sardars are less in number. But the Sardar Jokes were made popular  by Sardar Khushwant singh the eminent writer.  I know but Sardar Khushwant Singh was sikh only with appearance. He said many time that I am not gurdwara going sikh.

You are absolutely right in putting forward your own opinion. Here, I don't think any of us write to gain popularity. We have the right to oppose or to accept and that is what discussion is all about. You have named me as conformist, that's fine with me. What's wrong in it? I am not harming anyone. I am open to new ideas but that does not mean I have to act against that opinion of mine on which I strongly believe.  I agree with you. Every one has the right to express their opinions freely. If somebody differs with my opinion, well I respect them.

The discussion already refuted the writer's views.  I answer your Question by asking yo question. What is the need of a solid proof ? I'm believer in Pujas especially Durga Pua or Navaratri. The writer's opinions dealt a big blow to my beliefs and sentiments You may be a non believer. But I'm not.

Forgiving anyone is not difficult provided the other person feels genuinely sorry and makes an effort to make things right.I forgive my close family very easily no matter how serious the issue is ..Even outsiders it would be the same because there is no point in holding grudges if the feelings of regret is genuine and well meant !

The jokes may be banned but can the public be stopped from sharing them with each other. Santa Banta jokes are simply too good to fade out.

@rambabu , the ideas expressed in the said article should be refuted by presenting facts to negate his views rather than using choicest adjectives to denounce him. What he has stated is it wrong, I am asking you pointedly? Pl answer with facts. Let us debate it. Thanks.

Personally I feel that while 50% of the politicians may be corrupt, there are also some who are really doing their job well.In my own constituency , the corporator , the MLA and MP belonging to the Congress party and BJP respectively are very honest and tirelessly working and not at all corrupt . We are all in touch with them and I get sms from all of them when they start any new public work, which I am sure they are sending to many people..The Corporator and MLA are both devout Catholics and never miss their Sunday mass . It hardly matters because they are good at their job and their belief is their own, similarly politicians belonging to other religion also have the right to do so .

I clearly mentioned that the writer's opinions hurt the feelings of both Bengalis And non _ Bengalis. Yes Durga Puja is not  only worshipped by Bengalis alone.Bengalis call it as Durga Puja we in AP call as Nava Ratri,

@rambabu Goddess Durga is not a property of Bengalis. The rest of the country celebrates Navaratra in which Maa Durga is worshipped. In Bengal or for Bengalis just the name of the festival changes into Durga Puja. So, whoever has faith in Durga will feel hurt. By the way @vijay is right that we should not take it as insult. If we want to believe then no one can force us not to believe and we must learn to ignore such opinions.

The reason I say that we see politicians against the background of Gandhiji and then they suffer by comparison. Secondly the way you and some others in the forum brand all politicians as corrupt and dishonest is also being very unfair to them. After all a vast majority  of them are sincere, hard working and really dedicated to their work. However today it has become a fashion to brand all politicians as scoundrels for the misdeeds of a few and this is damaging to their morale. The dishonest should be identified, isolated and punished.  I state my views and if they are not in conformity with the popular views I cannot help it. I am not in a popularity contest nor I treat forum as an opportunity to  vent my feelings. I like to get a meaningful reply to my thoughts because then exchange of ideas can be carried forward. However such occasions are few and far in between. But that you should be a conformist at your age is a bit surprising. Be open to new and alternate ideas.

As knowledge expands old thoughts and beliefs will get scrutinised and may need to be revised. One has to be open to all schools of thought but decide what is best for oneself. A debate on Existence or non - existence of God by that famous person expressed his doubt. But never pin-pointedly insulted others beliefs unlike the writer of the thread insulted the sentiments of a particular community. To say that there is no use of becoming emotional is easier said than done.

While these rationalists and progressive writers feel that their often insulting point of view should be taken with a pinch of salt or should be received with an open mind, why dont they come out with such pearls of wisdom about other religious faiths and gods as well? Do they have the guts to do so?

Shampa Sadhya said thank you to vijay for his/her reply to the topic Scientists and film personalities follow writers .
Respect for the govt is not there is the charge against award returnees, so the govt is disrespecting them in turn. In the process healthy debate on issues raised is just not taking place. @Shampa is right all cannot be demeaned.
