The only alternative is to find out the root cause of all naxalite movements, and then address the fundamental issues.  To some extent, it is true that most of these are misguided tribals.  Meeting force with force can only result in the movement becoming bigger.

We should try to bring these people to the mainstream of life.  Many of them have already surrendered.  Why not try similar exercises now?

Yes. The government is trying to crush Naxalism without knowing the root cause of the problem. No body willingly and intentionally become a Naxalite. Extreme poverty and callousness of the respective governments to provide livelihood to the youth, driven them to resort to extremism. You will be astonished to see that there are many educated among the Naxalites. The government is trying to solve the problem on the surface. But it needs to look deeper and eradicate the root cause of the problem.
