There is lot of truth in this. There are two parties to bribe- giver and taker. The giver is interested in getting some thing out or turn or irregularly. He pays for this. The entry to jobs lucrative in the sense of illicit money is also costly. There is price even for getting choice postings and so called sensitive posts.

I have to point out a basic reason for corruption. Our political system is costly. You need crores of rupees to win an election. A minister or a legislator will definitely treat the amount spent in elections as an investment which must give return. The politician will recover the amount spent on election through unfair means.

It is necessary to introduce state funding for elections. The state should finance the political parties for elections. No politician should be allowed to spend even a single rupee individually. also independent candidate should not be allowed. In a party based democracy independents including those from small parties play havoc with the system and add to corrupt practices.

Only rich people can spend crore of rupees in elections and win. They consider the amount spent on election as investment, which they must recover along with premium or interest on the original investment.

State funding will enable individuals with meager resources to contest and win elections. The political parties will get funds and spend in the elections. Since the individual politicians will not spend anything from their pocket, they need no indulge in corrupt practices to recover the money spent on elections. The current system favors the multimillionaires, who consider the political system as an investment or business. The real honest social minded individuals have no room in the existing system. Hence, it is proposed that state may give funds to recognized political parties, who will spend and render account to election commissioner. The individual contestant must mot spend even a single rupee.

Corruption can be rooted out only if you have selfless leaders like singapore's Lee Kuan Yew who turned a small city-state without any natural resources in to a wealthy country. He was a visionary who evolved policies with Asian values and inculcated self-discipline in its people, which are followed even today.
Yes,
Corrupt less leaders are to be there to lead a nation to prosperity.Singapore is enjoying his leadership.

This is not joke. Just find out independently how much a candidate spends on Lok Sabha or parliamentary elections. An M.P. or MLA will definitely recover the cost of contesting elections by unfair means. This will set in a chain of corruption. The parliamentary system howsoever commendable is costly, favors the rich and contains roots and causes of corruption. By introducing state funding of elections and banning individual expenditure on elections, we may curb corruption in high places and consequently in lower bureaucracy also.

Secondly, we need to curb individualism and family bias in political and administrative affairs and promote nationalism and patriotism. Gradually, corruption could be eradicated. Also measures like frequent transfers and postings of bureaucrats and short tenure of political posts may help fighting corruption. There should also be continuous and more effective audit of personal accounts and bank accounts of politicians and bureaucrats.

@ Abid

At Present i am staying in Singapore and i know how people are enjoying here. They have really have a good leader and they respect him as he really made Singapore a good and a developed country in a short period of time however have one thing in mind Singapore is a small country. India is a big nation and it is really difficult to eradicate corruption. To eradicate we must have very hard sentences or severe punishment. On spot judgement and no cases or no re appealing in supreme courts.

Eradication of corruption will be a difficult task however we can minimize the level of corruption. Moreover India is a big nation and it will be really difficult to stop it on spot. Everyone wants to earn money quickly and gets settled and never worry about others. Their main goal is to earn money they never think about Loyalty or Honesty. To earn money they even choose a wrong path which affects the nation and also his fellow brothers and sisters.
