Women needs reservation in our country because

* Indian history failed to give the due credits to women, which was the reason of masculine domination. To rectify this error women needs reservation

I think till now I am the only person who is opposing this topic.

I think everyone is thinking about current situation.

In the history, only few women are popular for their contribution towards the Independence but their contribution was noticeable and was appreciated by the country.
I think deserving women got the credit for contribution.
Sarojini Naidu
Indira Gandhi
Rani Laxmibai
and many more got credit for their contribution towards the country.
For the future betterment of the country and for the latest generation, we need women who are well equipped with talent and courage. So women needs reservation

I think women are far backward physically and socially when compared to men.But they are lot more matured, emotionally much stronger, intellectually well balanced and have the ability to tackle any problem when encountered. Then why reservation?Remember the days, when women were not allowed to study, how their world started and ended behind four walls, they had no say either in the family matters or in the political, social decisions.Their life was nothing more better than slaves. They had no rights, no provisions and this exploitation of women continued for centuries now under those circumstances it might have taken a lot for women to come out and fight for the nation.

But still they managed to do that and its not just few names that we remember or have been familiar, are the ones who participated, thousands of women have sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Reservation in politics is essential for the women as I don't think of any other way, which can help them make their mark in a conventionally male dominated field.Unless certain seats are reserved for them they cannot come out of their houses. And if there was no reservation women would hardly participate in politics considering the present scenario, where money, muscle speak louder than honest and genuine work.It becomes extremely difficult for a woman to enter politics despite her dedication and will to serve the nation.

Though I support reservation in politics for women I feel its been misused by many. How far the decisions taken by the women representatives in the rural areas, are their's.They neither have the freedom nor the will and education to perform their duties (these women still are dominated and restricted by the men and society). They just remain as the representatives of their husbands. In such cases the purpose remains unfulfilled.
It works well only when women are educated and free enough to use their capabilities in serving the nation.
I am totally diasgree with some member's points.
we can not check every body;s Earning. with out tax paying there are so many people who are earning lakhs of rupees.
women needs reservation because in India still we are killing girl child.
Women are getting chance to compete with men but if we keep reservation then they will definitely stand and there will be no option to show any Power by any man.
suppose we do not keep any reservation then one man can make fear a lady not to stand in election.Reservation is very much necessary
Hi accept come on latest us take the recent statistics, women proved that they are equal to men. Like traveling to space, working as a pilot, bank manager, teacher, professor and so on....Guys do not forget it was a female teacher who taught you alphabets, rhymes and so on...

More over they showed and proved that they are equal to men in all aspect and why can't we just give them a chance and see because men were ruling the nation for 61 years and we can see only a partially developed country. let us give them also a chance and show that we are a democratic country, which means "of the people, for the people and by the people" and also they also form one of the pillars in India's developments.

Hi Sailaja,

I agree with you in some points. But India is a developing country. It is much developed that before 50 years. Now women are actively competing in every field. In some fields they dominated men. They are not showing interest to join in politics. I seen very few person joining in politics. In India so many youngsters thinking that the politics is the worst field by seeing the lot of corruption and the arguments given by the politicians. So women are also not interested. The entire system should be changed and government should educate everyone toward the politics and government should tell what is politics.

@soubhagya Das,

There are some cases where killing girl child. It is true. Do you know why it is happened ? And the main reason is dowry should be paid at the marriage to the bride groom. This dowry should be lifted up and everyone should be educated. Then killing girl child should be decreased.

Hi friends, my view about the topic from a practical point of view that , implementing reservation for women, will definitely shows that men and women are not equal and the Government is just giving a chance or opportunity, and this will give a negative impression for men, as they think that the Government is grabbing the post from men and given them to women.

Rather the present scenario is very different , the slogan "Men and Women should be treated equally" should be respected and just allotting quota or reservation for women, will definitely make women feel inferior

I do accept the fact that women were not treated properly during the medieval period and I am sure that the present scenario is changing.

The fact is that women are performing exceedingly well in all fields and allotting 33 percent reservation will be an hurdle for their development, as they have the talent and capability to getting more seats and position in Government posts with the help of their merit.

We have many reasons to say that reservation should not be given. Let's take a valid proven example..Previously before Independence Woman did take part in freedom fighting and we have many examples. But when compared to the total number of women who took part there were many women who were not even allowed to step out of the house. And there were many superstitions that prevailed and women were lot more degraded. Because of many social reformers like Tagore and others Women were given another life and the gender bias started melting. Now comes the point of reservation.

Think once: Why should we provide reservations for women alone in politics??

That is because there still prevails the male chauvanism in this society. Now when this happens women are naturally made inferior in most of the constituencies. But there are chances of this being utilised wrongly. For this there should come ammendments where that the woman who is contesting should have studied minimum of tenth and should have the capabilities of managing a constituency.

May be this is impossible but this can be done with good study and survey. Reservation makes way to further uplift women in this society.
