ADHAR project is Right.

* It has full details of a perticular person in a single card.
* It will avoid duplication and frauds.
* Kepping a single card with all information is good.
* This card has been used for all identification proofs.

Actually, adhar is not a card but a number. This number may be quoted for various purposes- govt. social security and health benefits, bank account, railway reservation etc. A parliamentary committee has raised objection on the project because of high costs. Already heavy amount has been spent and if the committee view is expected and project discarded, the amount already spent will go waste. It was wrong to implement the project before getting report and recommendation from the parliamentary committee and deciding on that. It goes to show that the government does not take the parliamentary committees seriously and thinks these these are just a useless formality.

Though the project is meant for a unique identification , it is too soon to implement it. The existing means of identification has to be made stronger and then the UID has to be implemented on personal opt in basis. People who do not wish to give their personal details may consider this as privacy issue as there is always a chance of fraud using the complete details of data. A vast secure system should be in place considering the ways the data can be misused.
The unique identification number is based on the system of Social Security Number in USA> This unique number is given to person upon registration of his/her birth and remains as his identity for life. The number is actually an account of his/her personal records where everything from his education history, work history, petty crimes committed such as breaking traffic signals etc. to which all places the person has moved around in and outside the country. Bringing such a system to India, and ensuring it works efficiently will help bring down illegal immigrations in metro cities such as Calcutta, Mumbai etc.

After such a long period of initialization and recording of people's biometric identities and personal details, the project should not be scrapped! It will be a futile effort and will mean crores gone waste!

Though scrapping the project entirely is not a good solution, the project can be tested on pilot basis in metro cities first and then implemented for other areas of states. It can implemented for identification in banks, gas distribution , ration card and depending on success measured it can be implemented for other forms of identification. If banks refuse to accept a UID on par with a passport or voter card there is no point in getting UID first and people who got UID are bound to feel it scrappy
In many countries there is unique identification number. But in India all system has loopholes. So people had a negative thought that all these data may be used for some other purpose especially for discrimination. That is why most of the people keep away from the project. What are your opinion?

the money and time spend by the government on this idea should not go futile.at this stage government should try to get the support from this parliamentary committees.the efforts done till now should not go waste.

an issue in this regard is that the indian aadhar system is purely based on strict matching [ not like the fuzzy matching used in many countries}strict matching has been implemented as a means to strike out any loop holes in this system.but this strict matching technology itself causes a lot of problems.

for any sort of document verifications you need not provide any address proof.just the aadhar number would be enough. the system would check your details and report whether you are eligible or not.but strict matching used here can strike down a perfectly genuine person with the same address if any small differences are made in the address. we all know how fragile the address system of the country is particularly in the south where we have a system of house names and not house numbers. this could be a real headache foe the authorities.
it seems like the main issue with the aadhar these days is the issue of collection of data by aadhar registrars apart from the census boards and national population registrar. the home ministry is now questioning the data security issues of this collected data.while nndan nilakeni ensures that all the data will be safe.

  1. there is still complaints from the citizens regarding the delay in number allocation.
  2. the new UID software mis matches with many of the states present software.
