Hello Friends,

The definition of backward class is quite ambiguous. If you check the list of backward classes as specified by the government, then you will find that all the village heads, landlords and hardcore criminals also are included in it. The real poor and backward masses are just insignificant.

The creamy layer of the rural India has intruded in the list of backward classes and are taking all sorts of benefits that should have been extended and reserved for the real poor and downtrodden masses of villages.

There were two categories of scheduled cast and scheduled tribe and they were acceptable to the general population of India. We all might have seen that people belonging to these two categories have to go through social discrimination on having exposed as belonging to the reserved categories. They even are ill-treated during counseling for admissions in colleges and during interviews for jobs. Students belonging to these two categories are subjected to worse type of ragging as compares to the students belonging to general categories.

There was no need for introducing new categories like BCs and OBCs when there were already two categories scheduled for reservations. These backward casts could have been adjusted in the two categories SCs and STs. There should not be disparities between SCs / STs and BCs and OBCs. If the government and the indian societies are practicing social discrimination between Higher class reserved categories BCs and OBCsand the lower class reserved categories SCs / STs that would mean that the governance itself is encouraging social discrimination based on casts.

Yes Harish, you are right. All this fuss is just because of giving reservations based on caste and government officially dividing the people accordingly.

But, is it possible now to totally remove caste tag to the reservations and other welfare schemes and implement them purely on the basis of economic backwardness.
Do you think the present beneficiaries among the people and their respecting vote bank politicians will allow it without any blood shed.

Keeping this in mind, I have suggested an alternative and additional formula above. Kindly give your opinion on this. Over a period this can be reviewed and revived to remove caste tag permanently but slowly in a phased manner.

I do not say that there should not be reservations for backward people.
My objection is that the village heads and zamindars / landlords also are included in backward classes.

By getting reservations as backwards these people enter politics against reserved seats in the constituencies. Even criminals from rural India become MPs and MLAs and ministers via the green channel of backward class tag.

But, on considering income as the sole criteria for the accomplishment of reservation, there arise several problems.
Corruption is a curse of our nation. There are lot more chances to come up with fake documents or corrupted one to gain reservation.

We need a transparent system for the monitoring the income while considering the reservations.

And considering caste alone for reservation is not at all a good criteria.

But in certain areas , reservation are based on people from agricultural field, family of a dead militarian, handicapped etc. which are a good reservation criteria upto some extend.
Reservation percentage should be limited for such cases.

@ Jobin.....

Where there is will, there is a way.

But, I don't think our corrupt, selfish and vote bank politicians will agree to change the current situation. They are the maximum beneficiaries now.

We, the like minded people should unite and force them to act appropriately in the interest of our nation and future generations.

As I suggested in my previous poll, under the alternative and additional formula, there should be an independent constitutional body to manage, monitor, review and revive the reservation policies, by keeping the active politicians away from it.

First of all we need to understand who requires reservation and this is a hot topic which has been for many years.

There was a huge cry and anger burst out when the mandal commission came out with its report and there was lot of violence.

Now when we look at the reservation policy every one in the Backward class are entitled for reservation and they are taking advantage of it and really those who do not have reservation and are meritorious are not getting seats.

Let me quote you an example of this. One of my friend got almost 20000 rank in the EAMCET exam and has reservation and got a seat into BTech Computer Science and he is from a well to do family and another friend who do not have reservation got a rank below 1000 and did not get the seat.

The policy is to uplift the backward caste people but the implementation and rules are mostly partial and since it is derived out of political means it will always satisfy some sections of the people.

There are many people who are well to do and some how obtain a income certificate from the Revenue office by paying bribe and submit in the college and take scholarship. I personally feel that reservations should be there to uplift the backward section of the nation but there should be some sealing on the reservation. Only the first generation or till two the reservations should be there.
