High population creates more supply as well as demand for work force. The bigger numbers also need more products and services that brings in existence more opportunity in industry, business and services.

There is need to carefully assess the job requirements and accordingly train the wok force. Unemployment results more from mismatch between employer needs and availability of trained persons. Thus there is simultaneously shortage of trained personnel in some sector where other have surplus. This is also caused by tendency of the youth to run for courses and jobs that seem popular. After some time there are more trained persons than required. soon after independence, there was stress on engineering job. Initially all was okay. After a few years, there was a flood of engineers resulting in unemployment.

Job opportunities are really more for self employed. With information technology and computerization, many jobs have emerged. Happily, many are engaged in gainful employment either through self employment or in small unorganized sector.

Unemployment may be looked from another angle. There is also disguised or under employment.
when some body is employed on a job that is less than his talent or qualifications, he is partly unemployed. Full employment implies realizing full potential from each. many are employed in seasonal jobs so that they are employed only in part of year. This is particularly in agricultural sector.

many are not interested in employment. They have considerable inherited property and live on rent and interest. Such persons cannot be considered as unemployed.

There is a case of criminals only. The pick pockets, black marketeers, hawala dealers are really negatively employed. True employment consists of doing useful service to society. This is negative employment- worse than non employment.

That is the area where we elaborated the problem.Actually the opportunities for all the qualified hands are not enough in India. But they could get some other jobs and we don't look into them.Instead we say that unemployment is our curse.

Abid has also highlighted that there is more under or disguised unemployment rather than straight unemployment. As I indicated, there is a mismatch between job requirements and job seekers. This needs careful planning. There should be measures to ensure proper coordination between professional institutes and employers. Also those, who voluntarily remain unemployed as they are even otherwise living well on unearned income, should not be considered unemployed.

Unemployment exists more due to lethargy and lack of skill rather than dearth of jobs. There is opportunity for everyone if he just makes some attempt. Self employment is the biggest remedy with individuals. All that is required is to keep moving. One must learn some skill. Even if he has no big resources, some amount of skill or training is always possible. By keen determination, it is always possible to advance further. It is no use just cursing stars or government and while away time in idle gossip.

I know of a person who had some command on English. He was unemployed. But he always got up early morning and visited some of his friends in market place. One day, some chartered accountant asked him if he knew typing. He answered in the affirmative and typed a page on the c.A. request. A few days later, the c.a. gave him some small amount. He got typing job. He was very keen in the job. He even pointed out drafting mistakes, even studied the drafts before typing and soon learned even the legal provisions. Now he earns a very handsome salary. Had he just roamed about, he would be still unemployed.

Yes its true Skilled people got job easily but in UP and some others place skill people also unemployed so if there is much politics corruption then unemployement is more.

In Gujarat and Maharastra its Industrial place so there is no problem for job but in UP there is no good Industries and IT sector so more problem.

I think it shuld be balanced.

Concentration of industries in some states depends on availability of raw materials, climate, geographical conditions as well. What we need is greater mobility of work force. Even in U.P., there is concentration of industry in Noida, Ghaziabad and kanpur.

There is need for proper planning of equitable deployment of manpower at all places. Where it is not possible to set up industry for any reason, administrative, judicial and infrastructure based jobs should be created at such places. Thus call centers, hospitals, administrative govt. offices, civil courts, judicial tribunals should be set up at places where industry set up is not viable.

But why its not viable. same person who are from UP working on industrial place so why can they not work on his own place. in UP all material available easily.
If not available then transportation facility is there. Everything is possible if Government want.

I think work force mobility are there in places where good reward is offered.Kerala was once a heaven of jobs for Tamilians.Everywhere any job was done by them. But they increased their amount gradually and now a Keraliet gets lower than a Tamilian! So all began to avoid them and now it is the turn of Bengalis. Many Bengal and Bihar people are working in construction sites of Kerala.
I think those who are self employed also are in unemployed list of government. That is why our unemployment statics is so high. This condition is to be changed.Any earning method should be counted as employment.

The geographical factors like availability of raw material, cheap labor etc. cannot be ignored. I am not referring to any specific location. My suggestion is simple. Develop industry uniformly in the entire country as far as feasible. Where industry cannot be set up create other employment opportunities by establishing support services, administrative overhead and government/ judicial offices.

Employment generation possibility in information technology and allied fields are greatly enhanced by internet. Now there are many jobs that may be done by anyone from home. The employer can get the work done from employee working on his computer at home. It will be useful to look for possibilities of working from home. This should be feasible in most clerical, designing and planning jobs. Now contacts between different functionaries in any establishment can be through net chatting and email as well. Face to face contact is no longer necessary.
