People who are getting awareness about plastics will use it ever. Most of the people are not carrying bags because it will get wet and they should wash it periodically but in the case of plastic bags they throw it easily after its purpose is solved.

You are right and probably this is the reason why plastic bags were brought into use and gained so much popularity. Incidentally, the garbage bags we use are also made of plastic, what about the use of these garbage bags. Paper bags also cause deforestation, so we have at least cloth bags to use for buying veggies and fruits and other grocery items.

Use of biodegradable plastic should be encouraged by govt in form of fiscal incentives to manufacturers to curb mental pollution.

Plastic bags has negative effects. Plastic bags are made from chemicals as toxic which includes xylene, ethylene oxide and benzene. These chemicals harms not only environment but also negative effects on humans, animals and water.

Using biodegradable bags is a good option, provided we as customers are offered this option.

The concept of biodegradable bags was started by the government was announced with a big fanfare and nothing happened since then.

This is because the retail stores and shops running in malls gain 5/- by selling plastic bags and surely Govt. should intervene to bring this to a halt.

Using bio degradable bags to replace the plastic bags is an issue decaying in the offices of the authorities since a long time. The lethargic governmental policies will wake up when the things go out of control.

Plastic bags are used even in western countries, however, you dont get to see them lying around and clogging the roadsides like here since there is efficient recycling which not only reduces pollution also makes better use of resources which is something we need to seriously look into.We cannot altogether banish plastic from our lives so it is better to look for some solutions ..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The only solution is to recycle the used plastic bags. Some countries are generating electricity from the trash.
