I feel he got a blank new slate to write history but he couldn't do so. And somehow ignorance of Indians made his family as first family of politics. His family is still cashing his legacy. Look at Priyanka Gandhi, politics has become part time job or time pass that they can do at their convenience

And everything taken care of by the tax payers including house, security and of course top earnings that are already safe in Swiss bank accounts .. With all that the arrogance of the family and the corrupt son in law ! Everything and everyone will be put in place , once, more schemes role out  by the Modi govt

Nehru is rightly considered architect of modern India. He championed socialistic pattern of society, laid foundation of Indian economy, independent foreign policy, Afro Asian unity against imperialism and colonialism.

Gulshanji, in all things you have stated he was a total misfit almost a failure. No wonder he is rated much below other Asian leaders of 20 century.

Yes He is considered the architect of Modern India and what a masterpiece he has offered.... unresolved issues and pseudo secularism, the two factors which have paralyzed us for decades.

It is my personal view but though he loved children he left a very dubious future for them. I even doubt, looking at his life, was there anything inspiring about him that can be told to children. He got things because of his rich background and British Education. I rather feel, for modern India children's day should be celebrated on Kalam's birthday, a real lover of youth and children and an inspiration we can look for

Well said, Nehru will have a lot to answer to history.

I guess power gives a heady feeling and those days with Congress being the only party that mattered , there was total power with the PM. Once having got used to it, they would not want to let go of it ,so Nehru was the pioneer in bringing in dynastic rule to India..

Dynastic rule was the Brain child of the Congress, which ruined the Country. Thanks to Modi, who brought this to a grinding halt. Now the Country is in the safe hands of Modi.

I even feel that he was a mistake due to Bapu's favouritism. I feel that India needed a better leader than him in those initial years. As far as his legacy goes, we got India full of problems. We are still harvesting what he showed. It is my personal view that India would have benefited more under the leadership of Iron man. Sardar Patel would have a better choice for future of India.

No benefit in discussion for things which is impossible. It is better to look in present.

Yes it is better to look in present and hope for a better future. But the forum discusses about his legacy. How can be discuss legacy without going deep in past.

Especially when our present stands on a shaky foundation laid down in the past ..
