There is consensus on GST. There is no opposition to the concept of GST. In fact, Congress Govt. at center had initiated GST but there was then opposition and hurdles from BJP.  Now BJP has followed the congress policy and passed the GST BIll.  The GST is scheduled to begin from 1.7.2017.

But the real problem appears lack of preparedness of government site on GST implementation.  The traders/ manufacturers are supposed to upload all information  on sales, purchases, deposit tax and file returns online on govt. site. But it very much appears that government is not yet ready.  Moving to the GST regime without proper preparedness may result in some sort of economic chaos and disorder- may be for a short period.  .

The idea is to create nuisance and stalling  , a historic event for the Country's future

Congress is boycotting the midnight function in the Central Hall of Parliament and not oposing the GST. It is seen as BJP trying to create a parallel midnight moment to neutralize Nehrus midnight tryst moment. You may or may not agree.

GST has become a reality today , a bold intiative taken by the Modi government in implementing it. The top financial brains including Pranab Mukherji, Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram have welcomed the new fine-tuned bill. But The high school dropouts leading the party and the sycophants of the opposition is sulking , because they were not the ones to implement it , they have another similar leader in TMC for company. 

Boycott of function by some parties is more to not be seen on same platform with Modi having upperhand. It has nothing to do with their inability to implement it. It is a taxation reform and not a social reform.

As if now , Petrol, diesel and aviation fuel have been exempted from GST but in time it will be brought in.
