Too much is being made of Right to information, openness, transparency etc. thereby giving decent burial to right of privacy of a citizen, need for official secrecy.

Sonia Gandhi has rightly refused to allow disclosure of her assets and income. A citizen is supposed to disclose his income and wealth to tax authorities and no one else.

It's very much clear that RTI is a powerful tool in the hands of citizens and what it basically seeks to achieve is a kind of balance between the two. We need both - privacy as well as fairness, openness and transparency. Those who have voluntarily chosen to be public persons can not be allowed to get away with it in respect of certain issues!
