Recently, the staff in a U.P. Jail behaved in most undignified manner. an M.L.A. was released. His daughter gave as tip Rs. 500/ notes to staff. The staff almost ran with her vehicle to receive the tip. She even threw notes outside the car and the staff were running to collect the notes as street beggars.

Yes, I saw the news item that read that while that particular leader was released from a UP jail many guard were asking for tips from him and his daughter and party workers were laughing on them while they were behaving like beggars.

what about police men standing at road sides, for checking vehicles?
In my eyes, they are also not less than beggars!!!!

There is difference. What the road side traffic police do is corruption. This is not begging. But the jail staff received tips and ran for picking the currency notes. This is like beggars.

Actually they were asking for the tips for the services rendered during his stay in jail. That is common practice as they have fixed amounts from ordinary prisoners on regular basis.

No, this is not related to VIP blaming society but jail guards acting like beggars. They ask for tips from inmates for giving them undue facilities.

Yikes, this is so sick and undignified!!! What do the jail guards think they are doing? They are not waiters to ask for tips!! I think this is a common practice in all jails, getting tips in return for providing the inmates with things they are not supposed to have, there should be a proper inquiry and punishment meted out to those found guilty! Or at least the ones who ran after these people for money should be suspended!

Three of them have already been suspended but you know what- that is only an eyewash and they would be back as soon as the matter would cool down. The money they collect go up to minister level.

Tips are optional. But jail staff get weekly payment from inmates for various services or facilities, namely meeting relatives, phone facility, exemption from labor/ work etc. There are fixed monthly rate for each facility.

Hmmm... now wonder punishments don't reform such hardened criminals and offenders then, because being in jail is hardly different from staying in their homes!
