Prime minister says that right to information is being (mis)used to ask private information and thus 'privacy' right is being breached.
So, we have to choose between Right to information and right to privacy.

It is as it has been rightly said a very fine line...Anyone's public profile is open and it is easy to get all the information as and when required....Right to privacy is not always possible when you have a public profile !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Any right is not absolute. Right to information is only for public purpose. similarly, privacy is not more significant than public interest. Hence, when no public purpose is served by encroaching on privacy, there is no need to provide information. There needs be proper balancing between conflicting rights.

Such rules and regulations should be clear cut if and when implemented, now that manmohan singh and party is feeling the heat I guess they will do so...

Actually we want both - Right to information and Right to Privacy. One should not misuse the other for personal benefits. Perhaps few changes will be made in this regard.
Lol another controversy. Except security matter the countrymen should have rights to know everything.

Security mater is definitely secret. but what if you ask what type of dress a minister or officer wears on certain occasion and how intimate is relation of one employee with others or where did a particular minster or employee go on honeymoon. People may ask and in fact really ask questions more foolish than these and obviously such questions are matter of privacy.

Certain people do like such intimate questions especially the celebrities who thrive n the publicity such news items gives them. We see them divulging information voluntarily and then cry wolf when it gets splashed all over the place... I am sure that some politicians too have similar interests , and as long as it is giving them publicity they are happy but get angry when it backfires !

Politicians are also publicity hungry. So let there be no privacy for them and celebrities. But let there be no encroachment on private affairs and family matters of government employees.

So they need to have different set of rules and law for different category of people. I agree that people from all walks of life need to have some privacy at least with regard to family matters ...

I am for equal treatment to all. But there was remark by a member that celebrities and politicians are publicity hungry and so no privacy for them. To this, I said that employees are not publicity hungry and so their privacy needs be maintained.
