IPL will simply lose credibility.

I don't think IPL will lose credibility. IPL as a whole has nothing to do with those 3 idiots. And why should others suffer because of them? Fixing happened in ODIs too? Did that lose the credibility.

You have a point but still we cannot deny the fact that the IPL has reduced cricket to mere entertainment with such fast-paced action, cheerleaders, the after-parties that are now shadowed with so many players caught red-handed doing drugs etc. Yes, ODI was also shadowed with such horrible incidents but at least it was not so widespread as it is now! There may be even more players who are guilty of spot fixing!

.....and cricket has been a mode of entertainment........ sports is a medium of entertainers. Remember what Muralidharan said??

Yes of course! But it is an extremely cheap kind of entertainment! We really should be supporting better type of entertainment like olympics or something like that!

Exactly ! this is going to absurd limits where every other sports in India is neglected and an IPL takes precedence over everything with the politicians, Industrialists and film stars joining in as if it is some kind of a party ...

IPL right from the beginning has been based on money and corruption and nothing else. What I find more disgusting and disturbing is that even players like Tendulkar allowed themselves to be auctioned liked race horses!

What is Olympics all about? Well, there are humans there too. So, a human nature is very likely to be exploited at any level. And why we had examples of doping in Olympics? So, what's the guarantee that those Games are also played purely?

Is is true that Olympics is also played and organised by humans and there are multiple cases of doping happening there too. But still we cannot neglect the fact that the essence and integrity of Olympics and what it all stands for is not lost, at least until now. The ones who are caught redhanded are severely punished and banned with their medals and accolades stripped off.
But what do we see in cricket? Years ago when match fixing was discovered in international cricket, certain players banned for some time. But these players Azharuddin, Jadeja, etc. are now roaming freely without any recriminations or anything now!

Very true ! The players esp Sachin has always been very money minded , one can see that he was more committed to ads than cricket at one time and only when there was a lot of criticism did he concentrate...it would be the same with other players as well since big money and fame is very tempting...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

We should not be deceiving ourselves in taking an isolated stand on corruption in cricket and among cricketers. It reflects the general state of affairs of the nation. There is a saying that if the house is on fire, is the bed room or any room safe! We have scams and scandals in politics, academics and in almost any sphere in life. Unless those who matter at the very top lead by examples, such incidents are bound to occur on regular basis. Sadly we are desensitized to a great extent on the issue of corruption. I have come across comments in our forum itself that those who are corrupt are efficient!!!!

It is also a news that the players were threatened by underworld and forced to fix match.

Spot fixing, money, escort girls...sad to see what the greedy players have made of cricket in a country where it is not just a sport but a religion in itself.

Live in the present :)

But do you remember, Azhar played 98 Tests and was not allowed to play 2 more even on humanitarian grounds that would have made him in the club of 100 Test players. And he and Jadeja aren't in any team even as a support staff. So, justice has been done. Don't you think so?

What justice, later Azhar was given clean chit by court because there was no witness ready to stand against him in the court. BCCI apologized to him and he was acquitted of all charges. He got his dues and the show goes on. Every one including BCCI made money and they regret that betting is not official in India like other countries.
