Why do you think that Lokpal issue is a stale issue? Why don’t you think Anna’s campaign as a reminder to the people about their rights? How many years it took for Mahatma to convince the people that ‘Freedom’ is their birth right ? I appreciate Anna’s relentless efforts to inject into the minds of the people about their rights . The fact that he’s on with his mission despite losing followers is a shining example of his selflessness.

Making people aware of their rights is different from blackmailing parliament by gathering mobs for passing a particular piece of legislation as dictated from Jantar mantar or Ram Lila Ground. Moreover the so called anti corruption forum does not exclude the corrupt elements. Even the teachers involved in mass copying contracts and others similarly placed join the mobs burning candle in day time. In fact, it is the poor who suffer from corruption. The richer people are benefited as they can afford to pay extra for services that otherwise could be bagged by poorer people by being ahead in queue.

If fighting for a just cause is black mailing, then Sunderlal Bahuguna is also a black mailer who fought against deforestation relentlessly in his 'Chipko Moment' that forced the parliament frame a law against deforestation..

Sundelal Bahuguna made genuine demand for preservation of forests and nature. He did not draft a law and blackmail parliament to adopt what he proposed.

He might not have made a draft, but Sunderlal Bahuguna made his intentions very clear how the law should be. In the case of Anna, if he has made a draft, its with the intention to help the government. . The government can always change or make some amendments in the draft by sitting together with Anna. The fact is government will not like if some commoner like Anna suggests something. And as a consequence suggestions are dubbed as Diktats.

I do not understand the logic of government sitting with anna for making some law. It is parliamentarians job to make law. all others are equal. Anyone may suggest change in law. In fact the concerned ministries offer suggestions when an important piece of legislation is contemplated. Suggestions are received from many sources and those considered suitable included. But nobody has the right to pressurize or blackmail or bully parliament and government by gathering mobs at jantar mantar. Mobocracy is not democracy.

Parliament, before introducing the act will consult the representatives of the people. And few prominent social workers, including opposition leaders and commoners. That’s what’s going right now in the case of a separate statehood for TELENGANA. Digvijay singh, stayed in Hyderabad for 3 days and invited opinions from all walks of life for and against to Telangana before introducing the move in Parliament. This is the procedure in a democratic setup. Digvijay singh never dubbed any of the suggestions as ‘Dictats’. Because, they were all suggestions.

Now, coming to the present context, I would like to ask, why the same procedure and modalities were not followed in Lokpal case? in what way Anna’s suggestion can be dubbed as a ‘Diktat’? Did anyone had a one to one dialogue with Anna?. No. That’s why, he expressed his views from an open platform, which by all means is a right granted to him by the constitution.
Acid test is the 2014 elections. People are fed up with the current political scenario. Change is required. People have to decide who is who, but do the people have the time

If people do not have time for their own self, then no one is going to save them. Anna can only remind them but it's people who shall have to act and do the needful.

Sure. You can show water to the horse.. The drinking part should be done by the horse itself.

True! To enable everyone to participate in the voting procedure, all government employees and some private ones too give a holiday on day of the elections. Private sector too allows half day to their employees so they can participate in it, but sadly majority of people treat this as a holiday and indulge in leisure activities and stay away from polls!

If they withdraw holiday on polling day, everyone in jobs would want to vote. They find different way to spend the day leisurely.
