There is a village 'Maqboolpura' in Punjab, situated outside the city of Amritsar. All the male folks have died due to drug abuse. Only widows and orphaned children are left alive. The village is called 'widows village'.
This indicates the extent to which drug abuse can take. Punjab is the gateway for opium smuggled into India. 60% of illicit drugs are confiscated in Punjab. Drug abuse has virtually ruined Punjab. The whole generation is endangered by drug abuse. The village Maqboolpura is just indicative of what endangers the whole of Punjab and ultimately other adjoining states also if the menace is not checked.

Sad to hear such incidents are happening in India. The main reason for such incidents is lack of education and lack of awareness. Let the future generation of this village not face this sorrowful life.

Drugs and wine is common in Punjab. Wine of Punjab is cheap that other states. Indeed youth of Punjab Don't like to work in field. Car snatching is common in my city.. Most of snatchers are from Punjab. They are doing all these to meet the cost of drugs.
Drug addiction is all prevalent. In some mythologies drug usage is mentioned as a means to attain concentration.
