    I thought people kept things locked at risk of being stolen. Men being stronger can protect themselves better than women who keep them clad, more so in orthodox societies, not limited to any particular religion but every religion in the world. Every bikini clad woman is not at risk of molestation or every covered one is safe.

    The bikni clad women in west also could be at risk of molestation but they are not like 'personal commodities' that somebody wants to protect. The orthodox Muslims treat their women like any other property and so keep them 'safe' from public gaze. This depends on extent of feeling of possessiveness.

    But the question remains why only women began covering faces and not men. The logical reply is that women wee meant to be protected by men and so they required them to cover their faces for security. This is just like hiding your property orother valuables.
